Pre-Season Cup draw released for PS4 NPL NSW Women’s

Match action during the Grand Final of the 2016 NPL Women's 1 match between Sydney University SFC and North West Sydney Koalas at Valentine Sports Park on August 28, 2016 in Glenwood, Australia.

The football season is nearing kick-off as the official draw for the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s Pre-Season Cup draw has been released with opening matches to take shape on Sunday, February 19.

The women’s game continues to grow and reach new heights with this being the fourth instalment of this Pre-season competition.

New Kids on the Block, the Northern Tigers enter the fray this year following their promotion to the top tier of women’s football in the state.

They replace the Marconi Stallions who were relegated in 2016.

Having lifted the treble in 2016, Sydney University SFC will be hoping they can retain the Pre-Season Cup competition and begin their title defence of all three trophies.

The Champions open their campaign with a bye in Pool 1, while the 2014 and 2015 winners Illawarra Stingrays face the North Shore Mariners and Emerging Jets welcome Manly United.

In Pool 2, Northern Tigers take on the Blacktown Spartans while the Football NSW Institute will lock horns with the Macarthur Rams. Last year’s beaten finalists North West Sydney Koalas have the bye.

Teams will be split in two groups of five with a round-robin format used for the fixtures.

Winners of each respective group will then have the right to battle for the first trophy of the 2017 season.

The first round of matches is set for the 19th of February with the final round to be played on the 19th of March, a week before the Grand Final.
