Nepean host successful Girls Only Clinic
Nepean Football Association hosted a special ‘Come and try football day’ for interested female players on Saturday 4th of February at Cook Park in St Marys.
In conjunction with Football NSW, Western Sydney Wanderers, NFA Board and Staff, Nepean FC and the Nepean Referees Group, the day was seen as an instant success which was well received by the young female football hopefuls wanting to have a taste of what the sport had to offer.
The clinic, facilitated by NFA Board Member Stacey Fanella, along with NFA Football Manager James Rankine and Western Sydney Wandeers’ W-League assistant coach Leah Blayney also saw stars from the W-League club such as Alix Roberts and Jada Whyman take part in the running of the day.
Nepean Referees Group promoted female referring opportunities while Football NSW Game Development Officer Zac Ribeiro put forward an ALDI MiniRoos activation and community engagement activity.
Football NSW Members Services Manager Matt Rippon acknowledged the hard work and efforts Nepean Football Association put together in achieving what was a memorable day for all involved.
“Congratulations to Nepean Football Association on what was a fantastic initiative for female players in what is a rich area of talented female footballers.
“I am certain that initiatives such as this, will only increase female participation in the area, and will also only boost programs in excelling and growing them into a bigger and better one for season 2017.”
NFA Representative Stacey Fanella echoed Rippon’s comments.
“It was fantastic to see so many people at Cook Park on Saturday celebrating female football week.
“A huge thank you to Football NSW, Western Sydney Wanderers, NFA Board and Staff, Nepean FC, and Nepean Referees Group who all came together to promote all aspects of football.
