After 38 Years Jack Taylor calls full time

After what seems a lifetime in football Jack Taylor retires from the sport today.

Jack started his football journey in 1979 at what was then Bidwill Soccer Club in the Mount Druitt area.

From there he moved to Doonside Hawks Soccer Club and during his time there as Secretary he was also elected as the Secretary of the Blacktown & District Soccer Football Association (BDSFA) in 1987.

While his title changed in 2007 to Executive Director, Jack has managed the operations of the Association for the past 30 years.

Jack received a FNSW State Award in 1995 and life membership of the BDSFA in 1997.

Jack has always strived for good governance and his assistance with adhering to the Rules and Regulations at all times is well known by all.

Jack brought the model constitution issued by the then Department of Sport and Recreation to BDSFA and encouraged all clubs to adopt a similar version for themselves which they did.

Jack’s commitment to good governance was exemplified by the regular dialogue he had with Football NSW on governance and policy issues.

In recognising Jack’s achievements, Football NSW must also acknowledge the tireless work and outstanding role that Jack has played as the champion and driving force behind BDSFA’s impressive child-safe culture and compliance with the NSW Working with Children Check.

Jack’s legacy to BDSFA will be his foresight in wanting a new home for the Association.

After lobbying Blacktown Council and State Governments over many years the then State Government in 2005 granted BDSFA $5m towards their new home.

This, along with the monies raised by players of BDSFA over many years enabled the Association in conjunction with Blacktown Council to construct Blacktown Football Park in 2010.

It is with sadness that Football NSW says good bye to an individual who has contributed so much to BDSFA and our game generally.

We hope Jack enjoys his retirement with his wife Sandra and we thank him for his service to the football community.
