Earlwood Wanderers kick start Special Needs Football Program

Canterbury District Soccer Football Association side Earlwood Wanderers commenced its ‘Football 4 All’ Special Needs Program last Saturday as 17 registered kids aged between 6-14 took part in various skills and drills with several government guests showing their support on the day at the club’s official clubhouse.

State Member for Canterbury, Sophie Cotsis, Federal Member for Barton, Linda Burney, and former Mayor of Rockdale, Bill Saravinovski took part in the launch as parents, grandparents and friends gathered to witness the kids receive their football gear for the 2017 season.

Earlwood Wanderers, in another fantastic initiative, have paid for all the Special Needs program players’ registrations which includes their football gear and coaching.

In an official club statement, the Wanderers were anticipating the new year showcasing the benefits of hosting such a program.

“This program aims to provide an opportunity for individuals and teams in Sydney who have a physical, intellectual or development disability to participate in the world game.

“It is a fantastic way for kids and adults to enjoy the beauty of football.

“This program has been customised and managed by a number of certified and professional coaches and we encourage young people to remain active and healthy from every spectrum of society.”
