Round 5 Preview – PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women’s
Round five sees the PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women’s competition continue to heat up with some key contests littered across the weekend – headlined by Sutherland Shire FA vs Southern Branch FC as the Match of the Round.
Match of the Round: Sutherland Shire FA vs Southern Branch FC, Sunday 14th May, 3pm, Harrie Denning Centre
Sutherland Shire FA head home looking to continue their undefeated start to the season against Southern Branch FC.
Jordan Baker has started the season on fire with four goals already and look to add to her tally and take sole ownership of the top goalscorer crown.
Sutherland also possess the most stoic defense in the competition with only two goals conceded this season which makes for a tough task for Southern Branch FC.
For the visitors – they are refreshed after a week off due to the bye and primed to continue their resurgence after Southern Branch earned their first point of the season.
Gladesville Ravens vs Bankstown City Lions, Sunday 14th May, 3pm, Peel Park
Following two straight draws Gladesville Ravens aim for a big scalp as they host Bankstown City Lions at Peel Park Sunday afternoon.
Bankstown City suffered a heavy 4-1 loss to Sydney Olympic while Gladesville were denied a win late by Nepean FC as both search for a rebound.
For Gladesville Ravens it has been a consistent start to NPL 2 NSW Women’s as they have not been pushovers in any game but need to get something in the win column soon.
Both sides possess some scoring power in Samantha Muscat for Bankstown and Kirrilly Moore for Gladesville makes for an entertaining prospect this Sunday afternoon.
Sydney Olympic FC vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 14th May, 3pm, Peter Moore Park
Third takes on fifth in a crucial clash as both sides look to build momentum Sunday afternoon at Peter Moore Park.
Sydney Olympic FC have found their rhythm in recent weeks as they have surged to third in the table with a 4-1 victory over Bankstown City Lions.
Madeline Costanzo netted a hat-trick in their victory and looks to add to her four goals against a porous Marconi Stallions defense.
Marconi’s form looks like binary code currently but a solid victory over Bankstown City Lions could get them back into the top four.
Central Coast Mariners vs Inter Lions, Sunday 14th May, 3pm, Pluim Park
Inter Lions return from the bye refreshed and head up the highway to take on a Mariners side looking to get back in the win column.
The Mariners were held 1-1 against Marconi last weekend and sit seventh going into this weekend’s round of action.
One bright spot for the Mariners has been the form of Candice Phelan in front of goal which presents a challenge for the Inter Lions defense.
Inter Lions shotstopper Selen Santoro will be kept busy but if she remains in good form it will go a long way to deciding this contest.
Nepean FC have the bye
