Tsekenis appointed Marconi Stallions head coach

Former Premiership and Championship winning coach Peter Tsekenis has been appointed as the new head coach of the Marconi Stallions replacing Tony Candy.

The Stallions announced this decision on Tuesday after the resignation of Candy due to personal reasons.

Tsekenis, a former NSL great, who made his name playing for Sydney Olympic as a tough tackling defender and midfielder, was also an Australian Under 23 international.

After his illustrious playing career, the 43-year-old won a fair bit of silverware after turning his attention to coaching where he won respective league competitions with the likes of Bankstown City Lions and Sydney Olympic.

Tsekenis has been given the task of leading the Stallions back into the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s top tier competition and will kick off his coaching career with the club this Saturday when his side tackle St George FC at Marconi Stadium.

The Stallions wished Candy all the best with his future endeavours after taking over the squad last season.
