Rain washed out three out of four of the matches this weekend but there still was Southern Branch FC vs Bankstown City FC to enjoy.

Southern Branch FC 2 drew with Bankstown City Lions 2

In a spirited game down in Nowra Sports Complex Southern Branch earned a hard point against top four Bankstown City Lions.

The Lions pounced out of the gates in the first half as Tania Baban and Doris Osman put them ahead 2-nil.

An inspired brace from Georgia McDonnell in either half was enough to salvage a point for Southern Branch FC in an intense game.

Troy Spink the Lions coach was happy to take a point from a tough road trip and maintain their spot in the top four.

For Southern Branch they were glad to take something from a nail biting game that was end to end throughout.

Inter Lions vs Marconi stallions, Sutherland Shire FA vs Sydney Olympic and Central Coast Mariners vs Nepean FC washed out.

Mid-season review

As we hit the halfway point of the season it is time to look back at how teams are faring midway through the competition.

Sutherland Shire FA lead the way in PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women’s with only single loss to their name and a potent attack headed by Jordan Baker the competition leading scorer with nine goals.

They are being ably chased by surprise packets Nepean FC who have claimed a few big scalps thus far and sit comfortably in third. Sydney Olympic FC are second with 14 points as they found their footing after a slow start to the season.

Bankstown City Lions round out the top four and are another aide that have been inconsistent but now, have found the formula that will keep them in the hunt come the finals.

Outside of the top four – there are some clubs ready to pounce if the top four slip up. Central Coast Mariners have strung together some impressive results to sit fifth with both Oriana Keane and Georgia Davis firing.

Relegated Marconi stallions have the firepower if they can put some wins back to back to upset the apple cart after a disappointing first half.

Rounding out the competition is Inter Lions, Gladesville Ravens and Southern Branch FC who on their day can topple the best clubs – as shown by Southern Branch’s draw this weekend against Bankstown City Lions.
