Over 300 students from primary schools across NSW took part in the 2017 Premier’s Sporting Challenge in conjunction with the 10-year celebrations held on Wednesday 24th of May at the State Sports Centre in Sydney Olympic Park.

The unique celebrations showcased primary schools that supported and participated in the Premier’s Sporting Challenge for the past ten years.

Two high schools in particular, one metro and one regional who remained committed to the Premier’s Sport Leadership program, also took part in the event with the students assisting in delivering rotational physical activities/cognitive challenges with all the primary students.

Along with Football NSW, other sporting codes also took part in the day with the Tennis Hot Shots, AFL Giants, Netball NSW and Rugby League all representing.

The football station in particular was certainly one of the busiest of circuits as the children engaged in a variety of fun activities with Football NSW Development Officer Lauren Moore playing games of stuck in the mud, basic skills of jugging with their feet, legs/knees and heads.

“It was a fantastic day for all involved.

“Some of the children were a little challenged, but showed a lot of enjoyment doing it.

“We ended with fun paring games of passing through the gates and small sided games, which at times became quite competitive.

“At the end of the day, each school’s steps were collected to see how they went and were announced at the presentations.

“The children were great sports and thoroughly enjoyed the day with football winning a lot of hearts which was pleasing to see.”
