St George FC has thanked Ross Gardner, President of the club since November 2001, for the dedication and selfless service which he has provided to St George FC for the past sixteen years as he has elected to step down as President of the club.

Ross has elected to step down as president of the club, a role he has served with much distinction. Aside from leading the club itself, Ross was heavily involved in all aspects of its management and organisation, including the youth leagues, Women’s, as well as the Playstation 4 NSWPL Men’s 2 side. Selection of coaches, squads, balancing the books, even a stint as coach of the Senior Women’s for five years were all strings to Ross’s bow. Ross could also be seen on many occasions down at St George Stadium, manning the mowers. For Ross, no task was too difficult or too menial. At some stage during the past seventeen years, there seems no job that Ross hasn’t managed.

Recognition for Ross’s efforts extended outside St George FC, with highlights being the award of the NSW Sports Federation Medallion in 2012 for services to football, and the Football NSW Charles Valentine Medal in 2013.

Ross was also a previous member of the Football NSW Competitions Review Committee and the current vice chairman of the Standing Committee for the PS4 NSWPL Men’s 2 competition.

St George FC wishes Ross all the best in his future endeavours and looks forward to continuing to see Ross at Saints games.
