It was an evening young Newington Gunners Under 12’s player Saad Alam will not forget in a hurry as the Lidcombe resident was the star of the show after winning Football NSW’s Coin Toss Competition in conjunction with the FFA as he headlined the Caltex Socceroos’ epic FIFA World Cup Qualifier victory over Syria on Tuesday.

Alam, a passionate football fan, was in awe of his much-adored Caltex Socceroos player Tim Cahill as the youngster had the honour of tossing the coin in front of his idol wearing the coveted number 4 jersey as well as Syrian skipper Zahir Al Gunami Al Medani pre kick-off in front of forty-thousand plus fans at ANZ Stadium.

An experience that Alam will never forget, the Gunners star, playing their club football in the Granville and District Soccer Football Association, will never forget the date Tuesday 10th of October, a night he not only played a role in the coin toss, but watching his idol Cahill bag two goals to setup the Socceroos’ final match upon reaching the FIFA World Cup in Russia next season taking on Honduras in November.
