All systems go for PUMA Champion of Champions Finals this Sunday
Football NSW’s premier Grassroots football tournament, the prestigious PUMA Champion of Champions Finals will take shape this Sunday at Valentine Sports Park.
Eighteen matches will be served as the main course for what will be a huge day of football as NSW’s cream of the crop grassroots clubs will meet in fighting out who will be the Champion of their respective age group.
As many as 298 teams participated in this prestigious tournament with as many as 4,768 players partaking in the hope of landing a coveted spot in Sunday’s Finals.
Football NSW’s spiritual headquarters Valentine Sports Park will come alive with football action all day with matches commencing at 8:30am with the final matches kicking off at 5pm.
In an amazing achievement, Southern Districts Soccer Football Association will field the most teams on Sunday with as many as five that will hope to capture as many titles as possible.
Alongside Southern Districts, Manly will feature four teams with Canterbury, North West Sydney Womens, Northern Suburbs and Sutherland to feature three.
Club Representatives from Blacktown (2), Central Coast (2), Football South Coast (2), Gladesville Hornsby (2), Macarthur (2), Nepean (2), Dubbo (1), Eastern Suburbs (1) and Granville will also feature in this prestigious tournament.
There will be a few teams fighting it out for more than just silverware and that’s backing up from recent PUMA Champion of Champions Grand Final victories.
Forest Killarney’s Under 14 Boys and Epping FC’s 21 Women’s sides will each be looking at clinching their second successive PUMA Champion of Champions title after taking out its respective categories in 2016.
While the likes of Lourdes’ Under 16 Boys and Wakehurst FC’s 30 Women’s squads will hope to avenge their heartbreaking losses in 2016, by lifting the major title this Sunday.
The Cup Finals will also see five teams that have already tasted success in 2017 clinching their respective DEPLOY State Cup titles that took shape on the 16th of July.
Lourdes’ Under 16 Boys, Menai Hawks’ 21 Men, Gladesville Sharks’ 12 Girls, Northbridge FC’s Under 16 Girls and Albion Park’s All Age Women’s all lifted silverware earlier this year.
A special mention to Manly Warringah’s Forest Killarney FC who will feature the most number of teams on the day with two (12 Boys and 14 Boys) with both side’s hoping for some silverware this Sunday.
All PUMA Champion of Champion winners from the Under 18’s age groups and below will also feature in a special parade organised by Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC with a double header which will take place at Allianz Stadium when the Sky Blues’ W-League side take on Melbourne City at 5pm which will then follow through to the Round 7 clash when Graham Arnold’s men entertain Newcastle Jets on Saturday November 18 at Allianz Stadium. All winners in the older age groups will receive match day tickets.
Available on the day will also be the ability to order one of the eighteen official PUMA Champion of Champions matches as all games will be filmed, so keep a look out for the Spot On Video Recording stalls to grab a copy – should you miss out, an order form will be placed in this year’s Match Day Program and an online link can be found here
