It will be a memorable PUMA Champion of Champions day for the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association as they will have as many as five sides in Kemps Creek United SC, Bossley Sports Club, Bonnyrigg FC, Fairfield Pats and AC United representing the region – the most of any Association.

The South-West region of Sydney has been a fertile ground for developing footballers especially at elite level with many past and present Socceroos and Matildas stars hailing from the area, a sentiment echoed by SDSFA president Andy Favaloro as he congratulated the teams representing the association on Sunday.

“We are very proud of our member clubs achieving many great things at this level of competition.

“We’ve always had confidence in our area and with our community and there is proof in the results across the season that development is on the way up,” said Favaloro.

Further to this, Favaloro praised the hard work of Southern Districts’ three technical directors – Rod Galic, former Matildas star Catherine Cannuli and ex-Socceroos midfielder Nick Carle, the member clubs and importantly the teams in exhibiting how the hard work is starting to pay off.

For the five clubs themselves, Sunday represents an opportunity to finish their season in style with the PUMA Champion of Champions title at their grasp.

Favaloro wants to hopefully take home three or four trophies from the day.

“We want to take a major portion of the five [games], we may have to concede one or two, but we hope to be successful in two-thirds of the games on Sunday.

“Although we know that the other teams will be prime and ready as well.

“I think the clubs between the DEPLOY State Cups and PUMA Champion of Champions look to establish their own identity in this competition.

“AC United in particular, have teams competing every year so all the member clubs fight tooth and nail to get to it.”

Coming into Sunday’s major event, Favaloro is impressed by the diversity of the teams that will wear the Southern Districts badge.

“Having five clubs makes me ecstatic because it breaks the pattern of the same one or two clubs and allows us to show off the district.”

There will be plenty of colour and excitement in the stands for each teams as well as supporters from all the SDSFA clubs who have come together to cheer them all on to hopeful glory during the games.

“There will be plenty of spectators there supporting our teams. While during the season they are rivals, the teams have come together for this competition.”

The Association will have three boys teams and two girls teams representing on Sunday.

The 12 Boys will feature Kemps Creek United SC taking on Manly Warringah’s Forest Killarney while the 13 Boys will see Bossley Sports Club taking on Central Coast’s Terrigal FC. The 15 Boys will showcase Fairfield Pats battling Manly Warringah’s CC Strikers.

While in the Girls category, Bonnyrigg FC’s 14 Girls will tackle Central Coast’s Killarney District SC and finally the 16 Girls will showcase AC United taking on Northern Suburbs’ Northbridge FC.
