The inaugural Futsal Cup competition proudly presented by Indoor 5’s kicks off on Wednesday 25th of October at Valentine Sports with some huge encounters listed for round 1.

Both the Men’s and Women’s competitions will showcase some exciting encounters but none more so than the replay of last season’s Men’s SELECT Futsal Premier League Grand Final which will feature Inner West Magic taking on Dural Warriors.

Another exciting Men’s match will feature the only grassroots club that has entered this prestigious tournament, Rebels FC hailing from Bankstown’s ‘Just Futsal’ facing SELECT Premier League side UTS Northside. The Rebels will find that UTS will be no pushovers as they have the likes of Blacktown City FC stars such as Joey Gibbs, Tristan Prendergast, Grant Lynch and the Speranza brothers Giorgio and Roberto on their books making them firm favourites to progress to round 2 of the knockout futsal tournament.

To kick off the Men’s tournament on Wednesday the 25th of October, IFS Futsal Club will take on Quake Futsal Club at 8:30pm.

Both teams are coming off victories over the weekend as IFS Futsal Club defeated Northern Beaches 3-1 in round 4 of the Futsal State League while Quake Futsal Club recorded a 6-1 romp over Mountain Majik in round 2 of the SELECT Futsal Premier League.

The Women’s matches will be evenly poised with some intriguing match ups – there will be two SELECT Premier League battles which will feature UTS Northside taking on Mountain Majik while Enfield All Stars tackle Quake Futsal Club.

UTS Northside v Mountain Majik will kick off the tournament on Wednesday the 25th of October with both teams coming off solid wins in round 2 of the SELECT Futsal Premier League. UTS defeating South Coast Taipans 3-0 while the Majik recorded a 5-1 victory over the Campbelltown Quake.

Previous encounters between the two have indicated that this will be a very tight contest as in season 2015/16 UTS Northside defeated their opponents twice however in season 2016/17 the reverse occurred as the Majik prevailed on both occasions.

SELECT has once again thrown its support behind the sport of Futsal and will be the official ball supplier for the new competition as the ‘Mimas Ball’ will be on display come match day. This adds to the company already sponsoring NSW Futsal’s top tier competition namely the SELECT Futsal Premier League and Premier League 2.
