The stage has been set as the 2017 Summer Football Champion of Champions Finals takes over Valentine Sports Park this Saturday as 30 of the best male, female and mixed senior teams from across Sydney will lock horns with the hope of being crowned ‘Champions’.

Some of the largest centres including Kellyville, Nepean, Gladesville, Marayong and Northern Suburbs as well as new teams such as the Ryde Panthers and APIA Leichhardt will all be vying for that coveted prize of being crowned the number one Summer Football side in either the male or female category.

2016 defending Champions Bonnyrigg FC (Men) and Gladesville Sharks (Women) will hope that they can pick up its second successive title but will be met by some strong opposition.

A mixed competition title will also be up for grabs, a first for the tournament, due to the rise in popularity of the summer format.

Football NSW Member Services Manager and Summer Football administrator Matt Rippon is expecting a carnival like atmosphere on Sunday with various activations and DJ’s performing throughout the course of the day.

“This will be our largest ever Summer Football Champion of Champions event with 30 of the best summer teams; a new format being piloted with the mixed competition and a real festival-like atmosphere to celebrate the social and increasingly popular summer format

“Summer Football competitions have roared throughout 2017 as a record 90 plus centres with over 45,000 registered players have enjoyed playing the sport, and this will be evident in more ways than one on Sunday.”

The day will kick off at 9:30am with finals scheduled for 2:30pm.
