The 2018 annual Proctor Park Challenge was held on the weekend over of the 3rd & 4th of March at the Proctor Park Precinct, Bathurst. This year we had 59 teams be involved in what was a festival of football played across Under 12 Girls, Under 14 Girls, Under 15 Girls and Under 17 Girls.
The Under 14 Girls had 23 teams played across 5 Pools.
A record number of teams and players were involved in the 2018 tournament with a mammoth 125 matches played in a fantastic promotion in Female Football Week. Plenty of
key-rings, pens, Matilda Posters, caps all promoting female participation were given out over the weekend.
Teams came from Football NSW NPL, FNSW Girls Conference League as well as Capital Football along with Association Rep teams and Association Club teams.
Marconi Stallions showed that they have a promising season ahead with two of their teams taking out Grand Finals.
A dominant Marconi took out the Under 14’s with a 2-0 win over Shellharbour FC. The Under 15’s Marconi squad also won their Grand Final with a strong 2-0 over a St George FC side which also showed great promise.
The Under 12 Girls saw the Sutherland Shire side defeat regional opponents Albury-Wodonga FA 2-1 in an entertaining game of 9v9 football. Both teams should be commended on their approach to playing over the weekend and in the Final.
To close out the weekend, a highly entertaining game was played out between Bankstown City Lions and Gladesville Ravens with Bankstown City taking the Final with a win on Penalties after a 0-0 draw after normal and extra time.
