Some enticing matches head up this weekend’s Round 17 State League Men’s action with a cracking game taking place on Sunday when Prospect United entertain South Coast Flame FC.

Featured Match: Prospect United v South Coast Flame

Can Prospect United make it two positive results in a row for the first time in a while or will a youthful South Coast side surprise the favoured home side?

Prospect United were buoyed by their 3-0 round 16 victory over FC Gazy Auburn but will need to be at their very best as the Flame proved too good for the Wagga City Wanderers defeating them 4-2 last weekend.

Last Meeting: South Coast Flame 0-1 Prospect United

Wagga City Wanderers v UNSW FC

You wouldn’t normally back Wagga City Wanderers to keep it tight against UNSW FC. Circumstances aren’t ideal for the visitors so is a upset possible?

Their first meeting was one-way traffic as UNSW FC boys decimated the Wanderers by five who have been struggling this year registering only five points for the season. The club will be hoping that Gissing Oval can see some glory come match day but they will need to be at their very best to defeat a very classy UNSW FC outfit who currently occupy third spot.

Last Meeting: UNSW FC 5-0 Wagga City Wanderers

Western Condors v Hurstville FC

Western Condors missed an opportunity to gain some ground on this weekend’s opponents and Nepean FC last week. Surely, not again is the question asked.

The Condors sit outside the five and will need to win this match if they have any chance of catching Nepean FC while for their opponents, a win would see them force themselves in a finals series position pending on other results.

Last Meeting: Hurstville FC 2-1 Western Condors

Nepean FC v Hurstville City Minotaurs

It was a tight contest in their last affair and the margin between the two sides continues to shorten. Nepean are struggling to consolidate a finals position, will this week prove to be different?

The Minotaurs would love nothing more than to throw a spanner in the works for Nepean FC. Nepean will need to be vigilant of an inconsistent Hurstville outfit who can cause an upset from time to time so expect some fireworks at Cook Park this Saturday.

Last Meeting: Hurstville City Minotaurs 1-2 Nepean FC

FC Gazy Auburn v Central Coast United

The table topping Central Coast United travel to Sydney to face tenth placed FC Gazy Auburn with one thing on their minds, continuing their winning streak and push for promotion.

Having been the most consistent team in 2018 thus far, it will take a lot from Gazy to topple a hungry Coast outfit who have really been the form team of the competition so far.

Last Meeting: Central Coast United 7-0 FC Gazy Auburn

Bankstown United v Balmain Tigers

It’s a big match-up for Bankstown United, currently occupying second place on the State League Men’s ladder, a victory will see them put some pressure on league leaders Central Coast United.

Anything but a Bankstown victory will come as a shock to the State League Men’s fraternity as the eleventh placed Balmain Tigers hope to gain a precious scalp with a good performance and hopeful victory at the Crest.

Last Meeting: Balmain Tigers 1-2 Bankstown United
