Sydney University crowned Women’s Challenge Cup Champions

NPL NSW Women’s Premiers Sydney University took out the 2018 Inaugural Women’s Challenge Cup thanks to a goal from Julie-Ann Russell as Alex Epakis’ side defeated NPL Women’s Capital Football Premiers Belconnen United 1-0 at McKellar Park last Saturday.

Sydney University were fresh after a few weeks break following their heartbreaking Grand Final loss to the Macarthur Rams while Belconnen United had momentum after defeating Canberra FC in their respective final.

It was Ann-Russell who stole the show however as her only goal was enough to gift the Sydney University girls the much-needed victory that brought the Inaugural Women’s Challenge Cup trophy home to NSW.
