Football NSW to have 5 FFA Cup spots

Football Federation Australia (FFA) confirmed the slot allocations for the upcoming FFA Cup 2019 competition with Football NSW being allocated five spots.

Slot allocations for the FFA Cup 2019 Round of 32 will remain unchanged from the previous edition of the competition with Football NSW receiving five (5) slots, Football Queensland and Football Victoria four (4) slots, Northern NSW Football and Football West two (2) slots, and Football Federation South Australia, Football Federation Tasmania, Capital Football (ACT) and Football Federation Northern Territory each getting one (1) slot.

Ten Hyundai A-League clubs will enter the FFA Cup 2019 at the Round of 32. The remaining Member Federation slot will be taken by Campbelltown City SC who received automatic entry into the FFA Cup 2019 Round of 32 by virtue of being the NPL Champion 2018.

Following the recent announcement regarding the two new expansion Clubs entering the Hyundai A-League, FFA, in consultation with the new clubs, have determined that neither club will participate in the FFA Cup 2019 competition.

FFA Head of Leagues, Greg O’Rourke, is looking forward to another exciting edition of the FFA Cup.

“As we progress into our sixth edition of the FFA Cup, coupled with the recent expansion announcement, FFA will continue to review the slot allocation framework for 2020 and beyond to improve an expand the competition.

“With a record number of clubs looking to register, we are confident that the FFA Cup 2019 will be bigger and better than ever,” concluded O’Rourke.

Clubs competing in the FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds range from clubs in grassroots lower leagues up to the second tier of Australian football, the National Premier Leagues (NPL).

Leading sports equipment brand Mitre will be continue to be the ‘Official Ball Supplier’ for this year’s FFA Cup. The Mitre Delta Max Hyperseam ball will be used which was be unveiled earlier this year.
