Football NSW encouraged all footballers to reach out and thank the thousands of volunteers this weekend, as National Volunteer Week wraps up.

The week celebrates the six million Australians who volunteer their time across the country, and it is estimated more than two million spend their time helping with sport.

Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge was appreciative of the tireless hard work and efforts the thousands of volunteers have continuously put together across football pitches in NSW.

“In this week that is specially dedicated to recognising and paying thanks to our many volunteers, we would like to acknowledge those unsung contributors to our wonderful game.

“Behind every Socceroo and Matilda, or indeed community player, there have been many volunteers who have devoted countless hours to putting them on the park.

“Every goal that they celebrate, the pride that they display and the smiles that they wear, it is all shared with those that have silently but surely been beside them helping them all the way.”
