“It doesn’t have to be over”, that’s the message coming from Football NSW as the winter grassroots season draws to a conclusion, the biggest TAFE NSW Summer Football season on record is about to roll-out across the state.

Last summer saw phenomenal growth with player registrations exceeding 48,000 players with Football NSW Clubs and Associations conducting affiliated summer football programs at over 90 centres.

CEO Stuart Hodge was delighted with the progress and potential TAFE NSW Summer Football continues to have on the sport.

“Grassroots clubs, Associations and both National Premier League and State League clubs see summer football as an ideal way to increase opportunities for their players to continue playing throughout the year and to attract new players to football.

“Football is comfortably the most popular sport in winter but now we are starting to see its footprint as one of the biggest summer sport offerings in NSW also.

“This year with the availability of a second Active Kids Voucher, it is even better value for families with junior players.”

The accessibility of TAFE NSW Summer Football is also increasing for players with at least one venue in each Sydney-metro Association and Regional Branch and the addition of more centres during the 2019/20 season; Football NSW welcoming Auburn FC from Granville District, St Marys Eaglevale FC from Macarthur, Wakehurst FC from Manly Warringah while finally Leichhardt Saints and Marrickville from Canterbury District already joining for the upcoming season.

“TAFE NSW Summer Football provides Football NSW, the Football Associations and clubs an opportunity to engage a broader cross section of people, with possible benefits including the retention of the approximately 30% who don’t engage in winter football,” Member Services Manager Aaron Dibdin added.

Football NSW will once again offer support to all Clubs and Associations conducting affiliated TAFE NSW Summer Football programs.

These include insurance, access to referees, registration portal through PlayFootball, competition management, disciplinary process, model regulations, equipment and referee subsidies, TAFE NSW Summer Football Champion of Champions and local area marketing for each centre.

Furthermore all Summer Football programs will benefit through Football NSW’s partner TAFE NSW, who supply additional competition resources for all centres.

Keep fit, keep your teammates and keep playing the beautiful game all year round.
