It was a chilly day down in South Western Sydney on Saturday 10th August as Oran Park Rovers Football Club, Appin United Soccer Club, St Mary’s Eagle Vale Soccer Club and Mt Annan Mustangs Football Club each hosted an ALDI MiniRoos Gala Day of their own for the Under 6’s to 9’s respectively.

Family and friends throughout the Macarthur Football community arrived in support of their kids despite the miserable, windy conditions for a day of football festivities.

In total, there was in excess of a few thousand people in attendance which is a tremendous effort for the regional association considering the circumstance.

Participating ALDI MiniRoos boys and girls experienced two back-to-back matches consisting of between 12 and 15 minute halves (depending on their age group).

Coaches at the end of a long season, encouraged their players to use what they had learnt about football with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the moment along the way.

Football NSW’s Game Development Officers, Tim Blackford, Cameron Whitton and Bella Whitton made an appearance at the Under 6’s Gala Day at Jack Braham Reserve in Oran Park.

However, it was not to be for the ALDI MiniRoos Dartboard as strong winds forced its early closure.

To appease the many kids that were eager to have a go at shooting at the inflatable, a goodie bag of prizes including football trading cards, bouncy balls and wristbands were handed to all gala day participants.

While, Macarthur Football Association Director, Peter Kovacsics and Life Member Kerrie Gale visited Appin United’s Gordon Lewis Oval for the Under 7’s Gala Day to present the medals.

Overall, the local clubs hosting were delighted to receive positive feedback for their efforts in handling such events that is a clear reflection of the commitment and dedication the volunteers had shown on the day.
