NSW Metro and Country U13s and U14s Boys Squads announced
Football NSW has announced its Metropolitan and Country Boys’ State Representative squads set for the upcoming National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour in late September.
The announcement of these squads in each of the Under 13 and Under 14 age groups completes an almost unparalleled identification and selection process of observing NPL matches, training and games within the NSW Talent Support Program (TSP), numerous ‘elite games’ and hosting of mini-tournaments over the past six months.
Drew Taylor, Football NSW’s Manager, Talented Player Pathways congratulated the participants set to represent the state of NSW next month.
“For the players selected this will be a fantastic opportunity to represent NSW on the National stage and another step in their football journey.
“Outside of this group, there are also a significant number of players who have demonstrated potential talent and we will continue to monitor and assist in the ongoing development of these players through support of NPL clubs, HAL Academies and the Talent Support Program to ensure that we continue to provide the best possible opportunities for players in NSW to maximise their potential.
“I would like to thank the various clubs, particularly their coaches and technical directors, who have supported both the process and their respective players.
“It is hoped that in years to come, some of these players push on and progress through to national team selection and displaying their talent on the world stage and I am certain we will see many of them play in the A-League in the future.”
Warren Grieve, Football NSW’s Technical Director, addressed the hard work and efforts the process undertook in selecting the current batch of future young stars.
“Our selection process has been a long and rewarding task for all those involved. Ever since the first whistle was blown at Coffs Harbour last year we have worked with Coaches, Technical Directors, and key members of the Football Community to assist with selecting potential players, not just for now but for the future of our game.
“The players selected for this years’ NYC clearly demonstrates the extensive and thorough work that has been done as part of the ongoing process.”
The 2019 National Youth Championships will take place in Coffs Harbour from 30th September to 4th October.
