Kevin Muscat to Present at the State Coaching Conference
With only a small handful of tickets remaining for the 2019 State Coaching Conference, Football NSW is pleased to announce the participation by well known former Socceroo and Premiership winning Hyundai A-League coach, Kevin Muscat.
Muscat, who played for the Australian National senior team on 46 occasions (including a brief period as captain), has recently finished a 14 year association with Melbourne Victory including periods as player (2005-2009), Assistant Coach (2009-2013), Interim Coach (2012) and First team Coach (2013-2019). In 2015, he led the club to the ‘double’, winning both the Hyundai A-League Championship and Premiership (and also the 2015 FFA Cup), and in 2018 he won the Championship (Grand Final) with the club. For the 2014/15 season, he was named A-League Coach of the Year. For the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, Muscat joined his former mentor, Ange Postecoglou, as an Assistant Coach with the National Team as they prepared for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Prior to coaching, Muscat played eight seasons in the UK with Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rangers (Scotland) and Millwall, before returning to Australia to captain Melbourne Victory in the inaugural season of the A-League for whom he played almost 140 matches winning Championship/Premiership doubles in 2006/07 and 2008/09.
For the State Coaching Conference, Kevin will join his fellow Socceroo compatriot, John Aloisi and former Matildas, Heather Garriock and Catherine Canuli, in discussing the transition from ‘Playing to Coaching’. The Conference is likely to be the best ever attended with some 420 participants hearing from some of the best coaches and coach educators in the country.
Football New South Wales Coach Development Manager Chris Adams is thrilled to be announcing Kevin as a speaker for this years conference.
“To have arguably one of the most successful coaches from one of the biggest football clubs in Australia in Melbourne Victory is testament to the calibre of conference we are providing for our coaches this year, this announcement is another reason for coaches to secure their ticket for what will be a terrific day of coach development.”
