The ‘Towners have blasted out of the blocks to join Mascot unbeaten at the head of the table, but Easts too have started brightly and haven’t been toppled either this summer, two draws leaving them in fourth spot and not hot on top.

As mentioned last week a win or draw to Hakoah here would make them the quickest newly-promoted premier league club to ever rack up six unbeaten results in a row, but curiously they’re also on a rotten streak away from home – four straight road trips without success.

And while Quake have a rejuvenated Claire Walsh leading the scorers’ chart with seven goals, the meteoric rise of opponent Tamires Souza is sure to fire back just as much fear – Souza’s 20 top-flight goals in just 17 matches is the fastest on record and somewhat flatters Walsh’s terrific return of 43 goals over six seasons.

Even Inner West warrior Rhianna Pollicina isn’t as flash. The competition’s most prolific scorer with 88 goals took eight summers to get them.

Boomerangs FS v UTS Northside

Win-less Boomerangs FS might fancy themselves against UTS Northside when they clash at the AIS Training Halls on Saturday evening.

The Territorians smashed last season’s PL2 competition but have so far failed to fully fire at the big table with last week’s exhilarating 3-3 draw with Easts their sole registered point.

Boomerangs are also teetering on setting an unwanted team record with three straight home losses equaling their previous worse run in the capital.

Northside too have spluttered along the opening three rounds (one win) and can only take solace they beat Boomerangs in both their 2016/17 meetings, including a 2-1 grab at the Training Halls.

But UTS haven’t been overly great visitors since their PL introduction six years ago only winning a third of their road trips – and the Hume Highway is the longest stretch of bitumen in the comp.

Inner West Magic v Enfield Allstars

It’s a tale of two cities when Inner West Magic face Enfield Allstars in the ‘derby’ at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday evening.

Last summer’s undefeated champions have finally got their mojo back and ripped through Mountain Majik last weekend to shoot to third place just a win off the leaders.

They face an Enfield outfit that’s spent three summers in the doldrums and on a current four-game losing sequence.

But here’s where the figures lie because the lack of wins doesn’t do the Allstars’ efforts justice as no other club’s endured as many heartbreaking defeats as Enfield over the past eight seasons – 32 losses by 1-2 goals to go with eight frustrating draws.

In fact, despite their lack of recent success Allstars games have produced the third-lowest scoreline of any club fixture – a 4.9 goal per game average only bettering UTS Northside matches where the combined teams manage 4.5 goals together (Dural games offered up a tight 4.2). This shows that rarely has a team been able to dominate Enfield despite the end result.

Mascot Vipers v Mountain Majik

Top-spot Mascot Vipers tackle last summer’s grand-finalists Mountain Majik at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday night.

Mascot’s simply been unstoppable this season with three straight wins and a 14-goal glut making Vipers the premier league’s highest scoring club over the past eight years, averaging 3.1 per contest to overtake Inner West’s 3.0 (Campbelltown, Mountain and Hakoah are next best all hitting 2.7 goals an outing).

Conversely, Majik are on a four-game win-less streak that started with last summer’s grand-final loss to Inner West and resulted in just a solitary point to their name this season.

And while the head-to-head count is close Mascot leading 6-5, the only two double-figure scorelines recorded in the women’s league over the past eight years have come in this fixture – a 14-1 win to Majik in 2015 revenged by a 10-1 Vipers victory just three meetings later.
