Minister for Energy and Environment and Member for Hornsby, The Hon. Matt Kean MP recently hosted student leaders, parents, teachers and principals at the Hornsby Primary School Leadership Event to experience a day in politics at Parliament House.

The students toured the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council before joining Mr Kean for a special guest visit from former Socceroo skipper Alex Tobin, Junior Matilda Jessika Nash, Giant Netball star Keira Austin and NSW Waratah Alex Newsome.

From a football perspective, Alex and Jessika inspired the leaders around them by providing an insight into their playing careers and shared stories on making sacrifices in their personal lives, being dedicated to the sport and working hard on and off the field.

These were key factors in shaping the players, which then allowed them the opportunity to represent their country.

Both players were asked a number of questions around their leadership experiences and as well as providing key tips on making career choices.

There was a special guest appearance from The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP, Premier of NSW, who dropped by to also share her experiences as Premier and answered inquisitive questions from the students.

Football in NSW is excited to continually form and build upon existing relationships with all levels of government.
