Around the Grounds @ Ted Horwood Reserve

Untitled-design-1-1

What a beauty we have for today’s edition of Around the Ground’s as we focus on Hills Football venue Ted Horwood Reserve home to Baulkham Hills FC.

The facility itself is one of the standout pitches in the Hills area where football takes centre stage across the four pitches during the season.

Named after Edward Horwood who was a well-known local Councillor in the 50’s, the Reserve also hosts other sports such as Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Basketball and also has a Playground, BBQ and Picnic Facilities, a Community Nursery and Outdoor Gym.

What makes this facility extra special is that it acts as a starting point for several walking tracks that explore the local bushland, creeks and waterfalls. Along with the surrounding reserves, it forms a large expanse of habitat that supports various wildlife including the famous Kookaburra (which is on the emblem of Baulkham Hills FC) Echidnas and Wallabies.

As for the club playing out at Ted Horwood, founded in 1962, ‘Baulko’ is a growing club supporting junior and senior football in north-western Sydney and caters for players of all ages.
