Around the Grounds @ Max Ruddock Reserve

Untitled-design-1-4

We take a look at yet another wonderful pitch in the Hills Football Association area this time focusing on Max Ruddock Reserve home to the Winston Hills Bears.

The facility itself is located in Winston Hills with two fields in total, football taking centre stage in winter while cricket is played in the summer.

Named after Maxwell Stanley Ruddock, a NSW politician who was the assistant treasurer of the crown in the cabinets of Tom Lewis and Sir Eric Willis representing the Liberal Party, the Parramatta City Council dedicated the reserve in his honour.

The local council is set to give the Reserve a face-lift with a new community play space, new body-weight and machine exercise stations, new shape canopies over seating areas, a new footpath as well as new bench seating. Council is now in the process of refining the final concept plan before construction is expected to commence in June 2020.

This is music to the Winston Hills Bears ears, a club that has been servicing football to the local community since 1970.

Although the club encourages and rewards excellence and success, it has a strong focus on participation and ensuring enjoyment at all levels.  With about 1200 members, the club is one of the largest in the Hills area and has been a part of the Hills Football Association since it began in 2017.  The club offers involvement for players from the ages of 5 and upwards for both males and females.

The Club is run by a small dedicated group of volunteers with President Rod Carra who give their time and talents freely to ensure that players enjoy competition and participation.
