Round 4 Preview – NPL 4 NSW Men’s

FROM-FOOTBALLER-TO-BAKER-10

We have some cracking games on hand as round 4 of the National Premier Leagues 4 NSW Men’s competition continues to impress as the weeks go by.

A distance derby takes shape at Proctor Park as a high flying Western NSW takes on South Coast Flame while Prospect United and Camden Tigers will hope they can clinch their first wins for the newly rebooted 2020 season as they face off at Blacktown Football Park.

Parramatta FC make the trip to David Bertenshaw Field to take on Hawkesbury City, Ilinden Sports Centre plays host to the Hurstville FC v Granville Rage clash while in the Inner West UNSW will tackle Fraser Park at Lambert Park.

Western NSW FC v South Coast Flame FC. Saturday 8th August, 5pm @ Proctor Park

As each week passes, the story just keeps getting better for Western NSW FC. They find themselves equal top after three rounds. Last weekend, they showed their muscle in the set piece department in a convincing win over Hurstville FC. With a chance to go outright top with a victory this weekend, you better believe they will be up for this one.

South Coast Flame on the other hand come into the fixture with four points from two starts. The positive in those two games, they have not conceded a goal. However, there is room for improvement in the attacking third. But one step at a time, and another victory here could do their confidence the world of good.

Prospect United SC v Camden Tigers FC. Saturday 8th August, 7pm @ Blacktown Football Park No.1

Two sides without a win will do battle at Blacktown Football Park this weekend.

28/7/18. Before last weekend, that was the last time a Prospect United side conceded four goals in a fixture. On that day, they went down to Bankstown United and just over two years later they suffered a similar fate, losing to Nepean FC. Now with a perhaps friendlier fixture awaiting them, they will want to rebound before a tricky trip to Parramatta in round five.

Start afresh. It is safe to say Camden Tigers had a rough start to the season. In their opening two fixtures, the Tigers went down to Western NSW before succumbing to Hawkesbury City in round two. With a tough few weeks ahead of them beyond this one, three points and the confidence that comes with it is almost a must.

Hawkesbury City FC v Parramatta FC. Saturday 8th August, 7pm @ David Bertenshaw Field

Loss, Win, Loss…. Hawkesbury City FC will return to home comforts on Saturday night as they welcome Parramatta FC. Last week, the Hawks struggled to adapt their game on the road against Fraser Park and were beaten convincingly. Now, returning to the site of their one win this season, they will want to capitalize with a win over a wounded opponent.

Yep, two 1-0 defeats in a row for Parramatta FC have raised a few eyebrows. Coming into last week feeling wronged following a nightmare trip out west, Parramatta FC failed to strike a noteworthy blow to UNSW FC. In a short season, three early losses can almost write off a season, so they’ll be wanting to avoid such a fate in this one.

Hurstville FC v Granville Rage. Saturday 8th August, 7pm @ Ilinden Sports Centre

After two tough away trips, Hurstville FC will be glad to return home for their round four clash. Having gone down to UNSW FC the week beforehand, Hurstville FC showed glimpses of what they could do, but ultimately came up short against Western NSW in round four. Now five of their last seven games will be played at Ilinden Sports Centre, and the home side will be hoping for a change of fortunes to boot.

They welcome another winless side in the Granville Rage. The Rage showed improvement last weekend in their victory over South Coast Flame controlling much of the second half without troubling the scoresheet. Now looking forward to Saturday night, they will see this contest as a winnable fixture.

UNSW FC v Fraser Park. Saturday 8th August, 7pm @ Lambert Park

Two wins from three with players to return, safe to say UNSW FC are looking good for a semi-final test come October. In their immediate future however, they face local rivals Fraser Park at temporary home Lambert Park. Last weekend, they scored a pretty convincing win over Parramatta FC. If we were being harsh markers though, their end product could improve.

In 2019, This was the fixture that effectively ended Fraser Park’s promotion dream. A 2-2 draw that night meant there was no catching Central Coast United. Fast forward to now, the squad has undergone significant change but you’re telling me it still doesn’t hurt just a little? They come into this one having racked up a three goal win over Hawkesbury City FC last weekend.

Nepean FC – Bye
