Round 6 Preview – NPL 4 NSW Men’s

FROM-FOOTBALLER-TO-BAKER-2-5

Round 6 of the National Premier Leagues 4 NSW Men’s competition is set to commence with four matches on Saturday and the one match on Sunday to bring a close to what will be some quality action on display.

Granville Rage, Camden Tigers and Prospect United will be eagerly searching for their first victories of the 2020 rebooted season while a the pick of the bunch is at Lambert Park where league leaders UNSW host a tricky Western NSW Mariners outfit.

South Coast Flame FC v Parramatta FC; Saturday 22nd August, 3:30pm @ Sir Ian Mcclennan Park

If the sign of a good team is their ability to get points from disappointing performances. The South Coast Flame will return home Saturday afternoon after a disappointing 0-0 on the road last weekend, encouraged. If they need motivation this weekend, the two Matt’s (White and Mazevski) have recently brought up fifty appearances for the club.

How key will last weekend’s victory prove to be for Parramatta FC? After two one-nil defeats leading into the clash against Prospect. A twenty-five-yard strike from Ali Dulleh and late sealer to Martin Martinovic ensured their first victory in three.

Prospect United SC v Hawkesbury City FC; Saturday 22nd August, 7pm @ Blacktown Football Park No.1

Another round, same story for Prospect United. In their round five fixture, they failed to trouble the scorers despite holding the lion share of second half possession. However as with the many weeks beforehand, they struggled to make a dent in the oppositions box. Perhaps a return home will change their fortunes?

Two wins in a month and suddenly Semi-Finals do not seem out of the question for Hawkesbury City FC. Key to their change in fortunes? The form of attacking trio Emanuel Ponce, Boamah Adai and Morilso who each netted in their trip to orange last weekend.

Nepean FC v Camden Tigers FC; Saturday 22nd August, 7pm @ Cook Park No.1 (St Marys)

A hiccup or start of a slip? Nepean FC showed the first chink in their armor last weekend. Prior to the bye, the team from Sydney’s far west were undefeated. Following the week off however, Joe D’Ermilio’s men looked rusty in their top of table clash with UNSW. Now faced with an “easier opponent”, can they regain their momentum?

The less said about round five, the better for Camden Tigers. Facing one of this season’s contenders, they crumbled eventually going down to a strong Fraser Park side at home. Now with a trip to Cook Park on the horizon, will they be prepared for the home sides inevitable reaction?

Fraser Park FC v Granville Rage; Saturday 22nd August, 7pm @ Fraser Park

Five Star performance. Let round five be known as the round where Fraser Park found their form in 2020. The defending champions were ruthless in their dismantling of Camden Tigers last weekend. Having previously struggled in front of goal, five different scorers found the net last weekend. Granville be warned.

It has been a frustrating start to the season for Granville Rage. Dropping all four fixtures, the Rage have shown signs of improvement in their last two, only going down to Flame by a single goal. So far, the bye has been a curse more than a blessing, with only one team managing to come back with a win. It looks a challenging night for the Rage. But this is football and who knows?

UNSW FC v Western NSW FC; Sunday 23rd August, 4pm @ Lambert Park

Coming in hot. As we reach the halfway point of this revamped season, few have impressed more than UNSW FC. Last weekend the return of Kevin Lopes proved key as they claimed honours out at one of the tougher NPL4 venues. At the other end, imposing keeper Connor Winn continues to impress having made several key saves.

They face a Western NSW FC desperate to bounce back in their toughest test yet. Having started the season with three consecutive victories, back to back home defeats have handed Mark Rooke and his side a brutal reality check. If they want to play Semi-Finals, these are the games one must get used too.

Hurstville FC — Bye
