The National Indigenous Football Competition Back on Deck for 2021

NIFC-D4-295

2020 saw the traditional celebration of NAIDOC Week in July cancelled due to COVID-19, but with 2021 on the horizon Football NSW is looking forward to the festive week to return.

NAIDOC Week this year was moved to the 8th – 15th of November 2020, with the safety of our communities at the forefront of our decision.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be.’ Recognising the First Nations people, who have occupied and cared for the continent of Australia for over 65,000 years.

With the conclusion of the this year’s NADIOC week celebrations upon us, Football NSW is pleased to announce the return of the National Indigenous Football Championships (NIFC) for 2021. The 2021 event will be the 5th year which the competition will be hosted, despite the cancellation of this year’s tournament due to the global pandemic, we expect the event to be bigger than ever next year.

In 2019 the tournament hosted over 550 players, from Senior Men & Women teams as well as Junior competitions.

The NIFC in 2021 will once again be hosted at the South Nowra Football Complex, by the Wreck Bay Sharks Football Club.

The tournament represents numerous nations from around Australia, and in 2021 will be hosting the following competitions

  • Open Men’s
  • Open Women’s
  • Under 14 Boys & Girls

With team nominations open on 1st December and close 31st December 2020.
