Penrith City Council’s Field Fee relief for Football clubs
Football NSW today applauded the decision by Penrith City Council to waive ground hire costs not just for the 2020 season but also the upcoming 2021 Grassroots Football season in a fantastic gesture that will allow clubs more time to rebuild after the negative impacts of COVID-19 this year.
On top of the fee news, Penrith City Council will also absorb lighting costs for the 15 Nepean Football Association clubs in the Penrith LGA who hire their grounds.
Penrith City Council’s Community and Recreation Manager Andrew Robinson reiterated that positive actions such as this will only further assist clubs in getting back on their feet in what’s been a tough period for all.
“Penrith City Council is committed to supporting sports clubs and associations with their recovery from the impacts of COVID-19 and ensuring that they are best placed to grow and provide opportunities for community participation going forward.
“We announced the decision that all winter season 2020 and 2021 sportsground hire fees have been waived, and that summer 2020/2021 fees have also been waived.
“Penrith City Council looks forward to continuing to work together to ensure sport continues to thrive and grow in our community.”
Nepean Football Association CEO Linda Cerone was delighted with the token of appreciation offered by local council and urged other local councils across NSW to follow suit.
“We’re happy for our clubs that Penrith City Council has chosen to display the care and concern they have for our local sporting groups in such a generous manner.
“We’d love to see more councils being as practical and proactive as Penrith City Council.”
Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge highlighted his support for this great move delivered by Penrith City Council.
“Well done to Penrith City Council for pushing its valued support behind our code in what have been tough times for the sport.
“Decisions such as this from Penrith City Council go a very long way to assuring our clubs and players are well supported and will continue to provide a positive and significant benefit to the community.”
