Justin Harper quite simply lives and breaths for his beloved Blaxland Football Club.

The 47-year-old proud Vice-President, Marketing Coordinator and of course volunteer has been at the Nepean Football Association club ever since he could kick a ball as a six-year-old playing the beautiful game.

“I’ve been at the club ever since I could learn how to kick a ball playing in the club’s Under 6’s thanks to my family members playing the game of football that enticed me to want to play myself.

“Since then I have served four years on the Blaxland FC Committee, I’ve coached for seven years (Currently coaching the Under 12 Division 1 team) and played for ten seasons.

“I also assist the President with his duties and look after the club’s sponsors whilst trying to bring new ones on board.

“I am also responsible for updating and creating content for our social pages by promoting the club, sponsors and players on various platforms.”

With 17 incredibly dedicated volunteers running the show at the Blaxland Oval based side, Harper promoted the true fact that without these special people, the game would simply not exist.

“It’s quite simple really, without volunteers, we as a club and as a sport would not exist.

“The volunteers ARE the club.”

A proud club within its own rights, Blaxland FC have set its targets in ensuring the 2021 grassroots season was one to remember.

“We wanted to reach a target to fifty teams this year and we did just that which was great. This has been the largest number of teams we’ve had registered for many years and we are all super proud of this effort.

“We are also extremely delighted to see the development of the women’s game grow from strength to strength now having three Girls teams present at the club in different age groups.

“We are also re-running the Under 4’s MiniRoos this season, something that was very successful last year.”
