Football NSW League One’s side Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC have announced the appointment of former Australian international Abbas Saad as the club’s new Head Coach.

The ex-Socceroo is excited for what the future holds and spoke about the club’s stature as a major reason for joining the White Eagles.

“I’m excited for the challenge to resurrect and steer the club’s future in the right direction where it was strong and successful with a proud history and great community support to rival any club in the state,” Saad said.

Saad arrives at Bonnyrigg Sports Ground after spending time in Singapore in the S-League and completing his Pro Diploma.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the game back here with a big and ambitious club after my stint in Asia.”

He previously won the double with Sydney Olympic in 2018, winning the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s Premiership and Grand Final as well as taking out the Coach of the Year award for that season.

“We’re extremely excited to have someone of Abbas’ credentials at the football club,” a club spokesperson said.

“We look forward to good football, player development and promotion.”

Saad replaces Steve Karavatakis who was initially appointed for the 2022 season but made the difficult decision to leave the role due to increased work commitments.
