Southern Districts Soccer Football Association are set to honour the Anzacs in light of Anzac Day, by hosting a first ever ‘Digger Cup’ match to be played between King Park Public School and Bonnyrigg Heights Public School on Monday 4th of April (12pm) at the Fairfield Showground Synthetic Pitch.

The Cup was the brainchild of SDSFA’s Technical Director Rod Galic along with the SDSFA Board who wanted to host a football match to pay its respect to the fallen Diggers who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can all live the lives we lead today.

“This idea came from seeing the other codes host special Anzac Day commemorations and as the biggest and largest participation code in the state, Football needed to follow suit by holding events which give the day the respect that it thoroughly deserves,” Galic stated to Football NSW.

“Sponsored wholly by the Association which has kindly provided the ‘Digger Cup’ and winners and runners up medals, we are really looking forward to seeing this spectacle.

“King Park Public School is the record holding Primary school in NSW winning 11 Sate PSSA Knockout Championships while Bonnyrigg Heights Public School has a student body of over 1,100 pupils making it one of the largest primary schools in the state.

“It was only fitting that we chose these two schools to honour a very symbolic day for all us Australians,” ended Galic.
