Round 10 Preview – League One Women’s
Round 10 in the Football NSW League One Womens brings another chapter in the evolving story of the competition in 2022.
We have an unbeaten side, teams starting to make their move and important games in our eight-game slate this weekend.

Match of the Round: Sutherland Shire FA vs Camden Tigers FC, Sunday 24 April, 7pm, Kareela 2 Synthetic Field
This week’s Match of the Round heads to Kareela where Sutherland Shire FA host Camden Tigers FC in an important fixture.
Sutherland Shire FA have been on an upswing recently and that continued with their 1-1 draw against Marconi Stallions on Sunday afternoon. Camden Tigers lost 4-1 to UNSW FC in their latest defeat in the shire.
Part of the revival for Sutherland Shire FA has been with them finding the back of the net regularly in recent weeks. Helping that is Violet Keenan, who has scored in her last few games and will need to be watched by the Tigers defence.
Camden Tigers will hope to get themselves back on the front foot against the surging Sutherland Shire FA side. The Tigers showed they can match it with sides in the opening month and need to find similar on the weekend.
Blacktown City FC vs UNSW FC, Sunday 24 April, 3pm, Blacktown City Sports Centre
Back at home, Blacktown City FC face a huge task against a stylish UNSW FC side on Sunday afternoon at Blacktown City Sports Centre.
The students remain in the top two of the League One Womens competition after their comfortable 4-1 win against Camden Tigers last weekend. Blacktown City FC were defeated by South Coast Flame FC 3-1 on Saturday of the Easter weekend.
Blacktown City FC will be glad for their home comforts after their loss last weekend. They do have plenty of talent in their ranks to match it with sides. They might need another bright cameo from Kiara Rochaix to help flunk the students.
For UNSW FC, it is about continuing where they left off last week. Hannah Charak returned to her goal scoring ways with a double and alongside the rest of the students attack which will want to once again furnish their goal difference.
St George FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 24 April, 3pm, Fraser Park
St George FC look to get back into the winner’s circle against South Coast Flame FC down at Fraser Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints fell to their third straight defeat after a close 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners in their Easter Sunday clash. South Coast Flame FC reignited their season with their 3-1 success against Blacktown City FC on Easter Saturday.
After their hot start to the season, St George FC have hit a rough patch with their results and piling up the injuries and absences in their three-game skid. They have also faced three of their tougher opponents so coach Mark Cupitt will be relieved to be facing the Flame this weekend.
South Coast Flame FC just want to keep the fire they had burning last weekend carry over into this contest, and possibly spring an upset. Rachelle Wang and Sairah Wilson have found the back of the net recently and look to continue their form.
Nepean FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers, Sunday 24 April, 3pm, Cook Park
Two sides desperate for points clash on Sunday afternoon when Nepean FC and Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC meet at Cook Park.
Both sides come into this contest off losses. Nepean FC were beaten 2-0 by Gladesville Ravens on Sunday after conceding five to the Mariners on Good Friday. Mt Druitt Town Rangers lost 3-0 to Inter Lions.
This will be a game both sides will have circled on their calendar as a possible positive result in what has been disappointing starts for both. Nepean FC do have two points on the board due to a pair of 0-0 draws, both at home.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers hope this might be their week, even if it’s not their year to get themselves off the duck egg. Coach Neil Ross has remained positive about his side and this week might be the reward for that against their fellow Western Sydney side.
Marconi Stallions vs Inter Lions, Sunday 24 April, 3pm, Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions head back to Marconi Stadium looking to build their momentum against Inter Lions on Sunday afternoon.
The Stallions added another point to the bank in their 1-1 draw with Sutherland Shire FA in their clash on Monday afternoon. Inter Lions got to pop the corks after their 3-0 win against Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC at home.
Inter Lions will be riding the high of victory headed into Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Lions got themselves off the duck egg for wins this season and it involved all their key players including Natalie Pahor and Jess Wootton. They will need another fine performance to tame the Stallions this weekend.
For Marconi, they will just want to get their full team together for the game. If they can, the Stallions will be a tough nut to crack for any side. Captain Hannah Voloder is one of the key cogs in their spine and leads the team from the front, hopefully towards three points.
Northbridge Bulls FC vs Gladesville Ravens, Sunday 24 April, 3:40pm, Northbridge Oval
Two top contenders will do battle when Northbridge Bulls FC welcome Gladesville Ravens to Northbridge Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Both will be coming off contrasting results last week. Northbridge Bulls FC were unable to break through the SD Raiders FC defence in a 2-1 loss. Gladesville Ravens won 2-0 against Nepean FC to pick up three more points.
Coming into this game, Gladesville are feeling just fine with their unbeaten streak in the last month which has them in seventh spot. The Ravens create a lot of chances but must turn those into goals especially against opposition like Northbridge Bulls FC.
It is a similar issue for Northbridge Bulls FC. They did everything but hit the back of the net in their Match of the Round vs SD Raiders FC. Tamires Souza does have some game changing pace and skill which can decide the contest.
Hills United FC vs Central Coast Mariners FC, Sunday 24 April, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School
Hills United FC look to make their win streak double digits when they welcome Central Coast Mariners to Bella Vista Public School this weekend.
The hosts are flying at the top of the League One Womens competition after their eighth straight win in a 4-1 win against South East Phoenix FC. Central Coast Mariners FC had a cracking Easter weekend picking up six points against Nepean FC and St George FC.
Central Coast Mariners will head to Bella Vista Public School full of confidence to possibly be the first side to take points off Hills United FC. Both Chloe Smith and Kaitlin Murphy are in a purple patch of scoring form and will test Hills United FC keeper Sarah Easthope.
Hills United FC won’t get complacent under coach Alan Tasses. He has the side well drilled and they will want to continue making history in their debut season. Having an option like Isabella Sciberras helps alongside their potent strike force to add more points.
SD Raiders FC vs South East Phoenix FC, Sunday 24 April, 4:10pm, Ernie Smith Reserve
Finishing off the weekend is SD Raiders FC hosting South East Phoenix FC at Fortress Ernie Smith Reserve at Sunday twilight.
SD Raiders FC come into this contest on a high following their 2-1 success against Northbridge Bulls FC in last weekend’s Match of the Round. South East Phoenix FC were game but fell 4-1 against Hills United FC at home.
The combination of Rojin Polat and Trudy Camelleri has been successful for SD Raiders FC with both attacking players finding the back of the net last week. SD Raiders FC hope to add to their impressive start before their catch up game on Thursday night.
South East Phoenix FC head up the highway confident that they can be competitive against any side in the League One Womens competition. Madison Carter has been one part of their strike duo and will be key in them finding success this weekend.
