A race to finish top, for a top four spot or club championship points. Odds are your team will be involved in one of those as Round 12 of the Futsal Premier League Open Women’s competition comes around.

Headlining the weekend is a clash in Sydney’s South-West with a finals position surely the reward, while Mascot Vipers and Eastern Suburbs Hakoah continue to trade blows in the premiership race.

Dural Warriors v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club; Saturday 26 November, 3:50pm, The Centre Dural

It wouldn’t be an FPL weekend without a top four battle and Dural Warriors welcome Eastern Suburbs Hakoah with a win drawing them ever closer to a finals berth.

With finals time approaching, it’s important that both these sides find some confidence and consistency leading in.

For Dural Warriors, they were underwhelming last weekend against Campbelltown City Quake. In truth, the score line at the end of the game wasn’t reflective of the whole fixture with Samantha Nagy and Sheiden Jabour scoring late. So, improvement is on the cards and depending on results elsewhere, they could seal a finals spot here.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah on the other hand look closer to the finished product. Returning to the winners list in round eleven after triumphing over Enfield Allstars, consecutive wins would see them keep the pressure on Mascot Vipers who lead the table on goal difference. Against Enfield, it was the Aurelia Collins show who scored four goals which more than doubled her season tally.

Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club v UTS Northside Futsal Club; Saturday 26 November, 4:30pm, Minto Indoor Sports Centre

We’ve been looking forward to this one! Campbelltown City Quake host UTS Northside in what could be a finals race decider.

The Quakes victory over Dural Warriors last weekend turned into a critical one after results elsewhere didn’t go in their favour. Still with a game in hand to be played late Sunday morning, they could well find themselves in the top four by the time the review comes out. It would have to be at the expense of UTS Northside though hence the big game feel about this one. Don’t count them out, the Quake could well shake up the complexion of the top four this weekend.

Their opponents UTS Northside returned to form with their round eleven victory after a tough run of form in recent times. In a statement to the rest of the competition, they put as many goals as games played past Inner West. Daisy Arrowsmith and Emily Bastow both scored hat-tricks leaving us wondering who got the match ball in a superb team performance. A win here would pretty much guarantee a finals position.

Previous Meeting: UTS Northside 1-1 Campbelltown City Quake

Inner West Futsal Club v Mascot Vipers; Saturday 26 November, 4:50pm, Valentine Sports Park

Having secured their finals spot, Mascot Vipers will be looking to dish out some more pain as they visit Inner West.

Mascot Vipers stretched out their unbeaten run to four with their round eleven victory over Mountain Majik. It’s a run which has seen them climb up to the summit (at least on goal difference). And there was something magical about the performance of Mikayla Nuong in that one who scored her first hat-trick in open women’s competition. On a positive run against a struggling opposition, surely, they come in favourites for this one?

It was a tough return to reality for Inner West last weekend. After a victory over Enfield Allstars two weeks back, they were on the end of a return to form from UTS Northside. Conceding 11 games last weekend in that one, they will be looking to bounce back with a more respectable showing in round 12 with every point counting in the club championship.

Previous Meeting: Mascot Vipers 3-0 Inner West

Enfield Allstars v Mountain Majik Futsal Club; Saturday 26 November, 5:50pm, Morris Iemma Indoor SC

Enfield Allstars and Mountain Majik will be chasing a second win of the season as they look to avoid finishing bottom of the table.

Since their previous meeting, both sides have seen significant improvement as the season has progressed and you only really have to look to last week as a case in point.

Enfield Allstars were able to keep a strong Eastern Suburbs Hakoah side honest in their round 11 encounter. Sienna Hawkins scored twice as they staged a comeback against their stronger opponents at one point bringing down the deficit to one goal. Daniela Mandile the other scored just before the 40th minute.

Like their hosts for this weekend, Mountain Majik also put in a more than respectable performance against a top two side in Mascot Vipers. Savannah Murray was the stand out scoring a goal to cap off her performance, joined by Alice Thompson on the scoresheet. Keep an eye on this side, they are building a squad to challenge in the future.
