Football NSW held two successful Coach Development opportunities during the 2023 Proctor Park Challenge last weekend with coaching workshops taking place in what was a record breaking weekend at Bathurst.

As many as 121 clubs descended to Bathurst to participate in what was one of the biggest Proctor Park Challenge tournaments ever held.

There were also a strong showing of coaches that were present and took part in the various Workshops hosted by Football NSW.

The Friday coaching session saw Young Matildas coach Leah Blayney present to the 40 plus coaches on site and provided some excellent insight and knowledge showcasing footage from the recent Under 20’s World Cup.

Saturday saw Football NSW’s Regional Development Manager Andrew Fearnley lead a Talent ID Workshop which had over 30 coaches, showcasing the methodology from Football Australia in player assessing/talent ID. The coaches then put this into practice as they watched games across the Proctor Park Challenge and submitted player assessments as part of the Talent ID Workshop.

“It was a fantastic response from coaches in attending these workshops,” said Fearnley.

“It had been a key focus for us at Football NSW to provide more coach development opportunities for coaches.

“The workshops have been a success for us in allowing greater touch points to coaches while providing an avenue for them to continue their own development.

“When you add in the insights from National Team staff like Leah, the coaches have a great diversity and quality of information to assist them and challenge them.

“Both coaching workshops also carried CPD points as well.

“Football NSW will be planning more regional Coaching Expo’s so stay tuned for more details on this soon.”
