The Knox Grammar boys with the coaching staff of Kai Lammert and Ethan Dosanjh, captained by Nathan Blayney proved too strong for their opponents while Redlands coached by Matt Sawers and Gerry Gomez claimed the Plate following its 4-1 win over Cranbrook.

It was a who’s who of private schools as the likes of St Ignatius College (Riverview), Barker College, International Grammar School, Knox Grammar, Waverley College, Cranbrook School, Newington College, Oakhill College, Redlands, St Andrew’s Cathedral School, Sydney Boys High, Sydney Grammar School, St Aloysius, St Ignatius (Riverview), St Paul’s Grammar School all took part in what was a fantastic two days of school’s football action for students in Years 11 and 12.

It was a monumental tournament with the famous schools Cup running for well over 20 years.

A unique competition, schools from across the various sporting associations including GPS, CAS, ISA and MCC were all involved.

St Andrew’s Tournament School Organiser Richard Butler, who presented both teams their winning trophies, was delighted with how the two-day event unfolded at the ‘Home of Football’ facility in Glenwood.

“The origins of the SACS Cup is as a round of pre-season trial matches.

“While there is some silverware at the end of the event all of the participating schools value the SACS Cup experience for the challenge, and the opportunity to prepare themselves to head into the season ahead.

“I want to thank Football NSW’s Referee Development Panel. It is the second year that the RDP has refereed the SACS Cup fixtures and the quality of their work and the control they have on the field contributes to the event being so successful and enjoyable.”
