Female Football Week Events Confirmed

Football NSW is delighted to confirm a series of events during Female Football Week to support the various sectors of our football community.

Padstow Park will be the site for a Female Football Schools Festival on Tuesday, May 23rd, while Valentine Sports Park, the home of Football NSW, will host five events between Monday, May 22nd and Friday, May 26th:

  • Coaches Expo – Monday, 22nd May (Currently full)
  • Referee Practical – Tuesday, 23rd May
  • Media Panel – Tuesday, 23rd May
  • Referee Panel – Thursday, 25th May
  • Women in Sport Panel – Friday, 26th May

Coaches Expo

  • Monday, 22nd May, 6:30pm to 9pm
  • Learning Centre and Field 2, Valentine Sports Park, Meurants Lane, Glenwood

Our Female Football Week Coaches Expo is back for 2023! This year it is bigger than ever! We start the evening with a presentation on “Working With Female Players in Elite Environment” This is followed by an on field demonstration with guest coaches who will be showcasing various session types for coaches of female football to observe and partake in a Q&A.

Referee Practical

  • Tuesday, 23rd May, 6:30pm to 8pm
  • Valentine Sports Park, Meurants Lane, Glenwood (meet out front of main building between Fields 1 & 2)

During this session we’ll run through referee and assistant referee drills to improve key skills like signaling and positioning on the field.

Hosting and running the drills with you will be NPL NSW Women’s and A-League Women’s match officials, who will give you tips to help you out for your weekend matches.

Women in Sports Media Panel

Women in Sports Media Panel

Hear from members of the industry about a variety of career pathways within sports media, their individual reflections on working within the field and recommendations to improve your craft. Hosted by Stephanie Brantz, with panel members Grace Gill, Samantha Lewis and Ann Odong.

Schools Festival

  • Tuesday 23rd May, 10:00am to 2:30pm
  • Padstow Park, 24 Davies Road, Padstow

Football NSW invites Bankstown local primary schools to enter a year 3/4 team into the Female Football Schools Festival. Come join us for a fun and exciting day focused on participation and fun games.

Referee Panel

  • Thursday, 25th May, 6:30pm to 8pm
  • Learning Centre, Valentine Sports Park, Meurants Lane, Glenwood

During this session you’ll have the chance to hear female referees from the NPL NSW and A-Leagues – Sarah Ho, Kelly Jones and Amber Morris – speak about their experiences as match officials and their pathway. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit their own questions to the panel.

  • Friday, 26th May, 6:30pm to 8pm

The 2023 Female Football Week Women in Sport Panel will bring a variety of female leaders from the sports industry to Valentine Sports Park to share their experiences while highlighting the different career paths available to women entering the industry.
