The 2023 NAIDOC Cup came to a successful end on Darug Land at Valentine Sports Park as Football NSW and Northern NSW Football celebrated First Nations football communities.

The age group trophies were shared as Football NSW took out the Under 14 Girls and Under 16 Boys categories while Northern NSW claimed the Under 14 Boys and Under 16 Girls age groups following the final day of results.

Football NSW was able to retain the overall NAIDOC Cup by a slim margin of just 3 points, ensuring the trophy remained at the Valentine Sports Park headquarters for another year.

The day ended as with the final presentations where Players of the Tournament were named in each age / gender category, with Football NSW’s Tikka Jeffery recieving the award in the U14 Girls competition.

“The event was incredible,” said Football NSW’s Inclusion and Diversity Coordinator Annabel Meadley.

“It was great to have had so many young footballers, coaches, families and friends gather and celebrate First Nations people and football.

“It’s such an exciting event to be a part of and we saw some great football over the two competition days, not only that, but we saw old friendships rekindle and new friendships blossom thanks to the NAIDOC Cup.

“It was great to see the camaraderie amongst the players celebrating their culture and having a blast playing the game they love together as one.”

Football NSW would like to thank all participants, coaches, referees, supporters, administrators, kit sponsors Broadlex Cleaning & Property Services, Kappa, Mitre, Wholesale Trophies as well as Northern NSW who made this tournament extra special as we look forward to hosting an even bigger and better Cup in years to come.

Football NSW would also like to thank the interim Indigenous Advisory Group, the John Moriarty Foundation as well as the NSW Government for their on-going support of the NAIDOC Cup and promoting the First Nations Community.
