League-ONE-Round-Preview-Womens-18

Round 18 in the Football NSW League One Womens competition features some fantastic football matches which will help usher in winter.

We have six matches to play out across the weekend headlined by the Match of the Round between SD Raiders FC and South Coast Flame FC.

Let’s get onto the preview.

Match of the Round: SD Raiders FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 9 July, 3pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

Our Match of the Round sees SD Raiders FC face off against South Coast Flame FC at Ernie Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

SD Raiders FC head into this game off back-to-back wins after they downed Mt Druitt Town Rangers at home last weekend.

They will look to striker Elin Rosenberg Cemazar and custodian Natasha Pentecost to help them keep the train rolling forward.

These two sides played out a 1-1 draw in their previous meeting so both will be keen to get three points in this clash.

South Coast Flame FC kicked off Round 17 with a comfortable win over Camden Tigers at their home ground last weekend.

The combination between Cristina Barraza and the other members of the Flame front three makes them dangerous against any team in the division.

The visitors sit one point out of the League One Womens top four and a result in this Match of the Round can see them make their move.

This game will be streamed live and on demand on NPL.TV with the rambunctious talents of Eric Subijano behind the microphone for the clash.

Camden Tigers vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers, Saturday 8 July, 3pm, Ron Dine Reserve

Saturday afternoon football comes to Ron Dine Reserve as Camden Tigers host Mt Druitt Town Rangers to kick off Round 18.

Camden Tigers battled hard before they fell to a 3-0 loss to South Coast Flame FC down on the coast last weekend.

The Tigers have steadied the ship in recent weeks and hope that they can pick up a big scalp against the finals chasing Mt Druitt Town Rangers.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers huffed and puffed but weren’t able to blow the house down in their loss to SD Raiders FC last weekend.

Neil Ross will have his side doing plenty of shooting practice this week to avoid a repeat of the performance in the south-west.

They will look to Holly Pender to find the back of the net this weekend and keep up their chase for the top four.

Central Coast Mariners vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 9 July, 3pm, Pluim Park

Leaders Central Central Coast Mariners take on Marconi Stallions in their game at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mariners kept on their merry way with their win over Inter Lions down at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.

Chloe Smith bagged a double in the result and continues to stay around the top of the League One Womens top scorer list.

Central Coast have a three-point lead at the top of the table and aim to keep that momentum going towards the title.

Marconi Stallions fought hard but were beaten by Nepean FC in a pulsating contest at Wanderers Football Park last weekend.

The Stallions have had a tough season but that has meant the famous club has been able to blood some young talent which will help the future.

They will head up the coast looking to cause an upset and get themselves back in the middle pack of the League One Womens competition.

Nepean FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 9 July, 3pm, Cook Park

Surging Nepean FC welcome local rivals Blacktown City FC to Cook Park for their game on Sunday afternoon.

Nepean FC were impressive in their 3-0 win away from home against Marconi Stallions last weekend to remain in sixth spot.

It was back-to-back hat-tricks for Maria Serrant for Nepean FC and the in-form striker will be tough to handle for teams in the back half of the season.

They have built a good young squad which includes Ella Goodwin and Sofia Sollecito that will motor them forward in the next few weeks.

Blacktown City FC had a formidable performance before losing 1-0 to Hills United FC in their game at Bella Vista Public School.

The visitors will look to attackers Jenny Hughes and Alyse-May Mccutcheon to help them find the back of the net and take home three points.

Defender Malea Cesar has been a key cog for Blacktown City FC and she heads to camp with the Philippines for the FIFA Womens World Cup and will be missed.

Sutherland Shire FA vs St George FC, Sunday 9 July, 3pm, Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Shire FA host the local derby against St George FC at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts featured in the Match of the Round last week and were triumphant against South East Phoenix FC.

They were missing a few of their strike options but Valentina Alvarez stepped up with a pair of goals to secure the win.

Sutherland Shire FA arrested their poor form last week and they will use it as a launch pad for the second half of the season and a possible top four run.

St George FC showed off their flair for the dramatic with a late goal in their draw against UNSW FC last weekend.

They have furnished their reputation as the comeback queens with goals in injury time and are a side who won’t be beaten until the final whistle.

Mark Greenfield will hope for an easier afternoon on Sunday and a reversal from their game earlier this season which saw Sutherland Shire FA win 4-1.

Hills United FC vs Inter Lions, Sunday 9 July, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School

We finish the weekend with Hills United FC and Inter Lions playing at Bella Vista Public School on Sunday afternoon.

Hills United FC won the arm wrestle against Blacktown City FC to maintain their spot in the top three of the League One Womens competition.

Brook Hastie has popped up with some important goals for Hills United FC this season and will be a danger on set pieces this weekend.

The hosts have steadied the ship after a back-to-back draws with back-to-back wins and now want to keep the pressure up on the top two.

Inter Lions put in a good shift against league leaders Central Coast Mariners at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.

The Lions were well beaten in the first meeting between these two sides and will hope for a better performance on Sunday afternoon.

They will have their top scorer Riley Dennis back in the line-up. She has 15 goals already this season and will want to add her to tally.
