League-ONE-Round-Preview-Womens-19

Round 19 in the Football NSW League One Womens competition is another action-packed weekend where teams will start to make their run to the top four.

We have seven matches to enjoy across Super Sunday including our Match of the Round between Central Coast Mariners and Hills United FC.

Let’s get onto the preview

Match of the Round: Central Coast Mariners vs Hills United FC, Sunday 16 July, 3pm, Pluim Park

The Match of the Round sees Central Coast Mariners host Hills United FC at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.

Central Coast Mariners ran rampant in their win over Marconi Stallions to maintain their spot at the top of the League One Womens table.

Young striker Chloe Smith rocketed to the top of the goal scoring charts with her hat-trick which took her to 18 goals for the season and ready to add more.

The Mariners defence will be key to the result on Sunday against Hills United FC potent attack to continue their run at the top.

Hills United FC were left frustrated after their draw against Inter Lions in their game at Bella Vista Public School last weekend.

Coach Alan Tasses will expect a response from his side after the draw and a positive result would get them back in the hunt for the Premiership.

They do have a super sub in Kaylie Shannon who popped up with the goal in injury time last week and might be needed late on to get something from the game.

This game between first and third in League One Womens will be streamed on NPL.TV with the voice of Central Coast football Peter Prior behind the microphone.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers vs UNSW FC, Sunday 16 July, 3pm, Popondetta Park

Title chasers UNSW FC head across town to face Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Popondetta Park on Sunday afternoon.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers got back on track with their comfortable win over Camden Tigers in their travels last weekend.

They got right into the groove in attack led by Rita Boateng who fired home a hat-trick and looks to repeat the dose against the students.

The hosts will need to be at their best to cause the upset against the second place UNSW FC and get themselves back in the top four calculations.

UNSW FC enjoyed a weekend off before the hectic end of season run after their game against South East Phoenix FC was deferred.

The students’ front three is one of the most potent in the league with both Marcella Santos and Amanda Levaskevich high in the scoring charts.

This will be a pulsating contest between two top half sides in the League One Womens competition and vital to the make up of the top four.

Inter Lions vs Nepean FC, Sunday 16 July, 3pm, Majors Bay Reserve

Inter Lions host a resurgent Nepean FC in their contest down at Majors Bay Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions head into this game full of confidence after their score draw against Hills United FC last weekend.

They have shown good resolve in the last fortnight and hope to use that as a springboard to an improved back half of the season.

Nepean FC won their third game in a row with their one goal success against local rivals Blacktown City FC last weekend.

Ben Gough’s side are five points out of the top four and will look to games like Sunday afternoon to continue their run.

They have found the right mix in the side including the work of Ella Joyce up top alongside Maria Serrant who is scoring for fun.

South Coast Flame FC vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 16 July, 3pm, Wanderers Football Park

South Coast Flame FC take a home game to Wanderers Football Park when they play Marconi Stallions on Sunday afternoon.

The Flame side featured in the Match of the Round last weekend and fell to a late loss to SD Raiders FC at Ernie Smith Reserve.

They were punished for a pair of mistakes in that loss and Daniel Naumovski will want them to cut those out against a tricky Marconi Stallions side.

The combination in attack between Lulu Lozano, Kellie McIntyre and Cristina Barraza helped them get back into the game and will look to click again on Sunday.

Marconi Stallions held their own against league leaders Central Coast Mariners in their game at Pluim Park last weekend.

Despite the defeat, it was a solid performance from Yuri Koyama who bagged a double and will want to add further to her tally in this game.

The Stallions will lean on their defence to help keep the Flames attack from burning them and damaging their top half hopes.

Camden Tigers vs Sutherland Shire FA, Sunday 16 July, 3pm, Ron Dine Reserve

Camden Tigers face off against Sutherland Shire FA at Ron Dine Reserve in their game on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers had a rare Saturday fixture in their loss to Mt Druitt Town Rangers down at Ron Dine Reserve last weekend.

Another fixture at their home ground will give Camden Tigers some extra motivation to add another three points and keep their distance to the bottom of the table.

Sutherland Shire FA were beaten in their local derby late against St George FC at Harrie Denning Centre last weekend.

The visitors will want to get back into the finals hunt and captain Genevieve Nisbet will lead the side from the front looking for the three points.

They have shown that they can put results together in quick time so this is set up to be an interesting contest in the south-west on Sunday.

South East Phoenix FC vs St George FC, Sunday 16 July, 3:15pm, South Nowra Football Complex

Back in action, South East Phoenix FC host the entertainers St George FC at South Nowra Football Complex on Sunday afternoon.

South East Phoenix FC will be fresh and ready to go after their game against challengers UNSW FC was deferred to a later date.

They are on their home turf again and aiming to avenge their 6-0 loss to St George FC earlier this season with their renewed form.

The Phoenix side will look to their two experience members in Amanda Carney and Madison Cater to help lead that turnaround.

St George FC did it again. They turned another game around with a late comeback against Sutherland Shire FA.

The Saints have strengthened their claim on fourth spot, holding a four-point gap over the pack and look to extend that on the weekend.

They have found goals from their defence in recent weeks including a captain’s knock from Nicole Besz off the bench and will hope for more on their travels this week.

Blacktown City FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 16 July, 4pm, Landen Stadium

Rounding off the action is Blacktown City FC taking on SD Raiders FC at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Blacktown City FC battled hard in their close loss to a surging Nepean FC side out at Cook Park last weekend.

They have been involved in three straight 1-0 games which saw them win one and lose their last two so now need to find their way back to the winner’s circle.

Central to their success will be co-captain and custodian Kiara Rochaix who has been tremendous between the sticks this season.

SD Raiders FC left it late but triumphed in the Match of the Round against South Coast Flame FC last weekend.

The visitors have found their mojo in recent weeks with back-to-back wins and keep on their goal to make the top four.

Abuk Nyor got the opener for SD Raiders FC, being a solid contributor for the young side and will look to be on the scoresheet again.
