1200x630 futsal PL preview and review 2023

The double header weekend allows Futsal Premier League Open Men sides the chance to build momentum in the run up to the finals.

While club championship points are all the more important approaching the final three rounds. Check out our team by team preview below.

Mountain Majik

R12: v Dural Warriors; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ The Centre Dural

R13 v Boomerangs FS; Sunday 3 December, 5:00pm @ Valentine Sports Park

Our competition leaders Mountain Majik could wrap up the premiership with two victories this weekend. Six consecutive victories, none was more convincing than last weekend against Macarthur Quake. Ahead of the final’s series, they will look to maintain their good form in the next three games.

In said victory, they scored 13 goals against the Quake with Anthony Haddad also establishing a lead in the golden boot race with 17 goals. Elsewhere look out for Jordan Guerreiro to play a key role for his side in these two games.

Mascot Vipers

R12: v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ Heffron Centre

R13: v Enfield Allstars; Sunday 3 December, 5:20pm @ Heffron Centre

Featuring in two games last weekend, Mascot Vipers bounced back from their loss to Mountain Majik the week before in style with two high scoring victories over Dural Warriors and Boomerangs FS. In the process, booking their spot in a finals position with three games left.

On competition standings alone, the Vipers will feature in the best game on both days. Goalkeeper and captain Sasha Chilas has been in real good form recently, while on pitch they scored 15 goals across their two fixtures with Mikah Chilas and Hikun Nguyen two notable goal scorers.

Enfield Allstars

R12: v UTS Northside, Saturday 2 December, 7:30pm @ PCYC Dee Why

R13: v Mascot Vipers, Sunday 3 December, 5:20pm @ Heffron Centre

One point could seal a spot in the top four for Enfield Allstars this weekend. However, you get the sense that they won’t settle for just a point in their remaining fixtures as they look to head into the final’s series in form.

Last weekend against in their 3-2 victory over Eastern Suburbs Hakoah, Shervin Adeli proved to be the difference with a goal and an assist. Elsewhere, Bruno Pivato was busy as ever scoring as well as working hard across the pitch.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club

R12: v Mascot Vipers; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ Heffron Centre

R13: v UTS Northside; Sunday 3 December, 6:05pm @ PCYC Dee Why

This weekend is an important one for Eastern Suburbs Hakoah as they look to qualify for the finals and score vital points in the club championship. Four points above fifth placed Dural Warriors in the finals race, a result in either of these games could see them cement a top four spot.

Last weekend, they were edged out by Enfield Allstars. Two players stood out in that loss in keeper Eliezer De Faria and Adam Paulsen. While Mitchell Lowe and Samuel Tzanakes scored in their 3-2 loss.

Dural Warriors

R12: v Mountain Majik; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ The Centre

R13: v Macarthur Quake; Sunday 3 December, 5:20pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Last week saw the finals hopes of Dural Warriors take a blow, but they aren’t completely out of the equation yet. Sitting four points behind Eastern Suburbs Hakoah, they have little wiggle room remaining if they are to qualify.

To do so however, they will need to turnaround a heavy defeat to Mascot Vipers last weekend. With a fixture against Mountain Majik this Saturday, it’s a good chance to show they have learnt their lesson from their round 11 defeat.

UTS Northside Futsal Club

R12: v Enfield Allstars; Saturday 2 December, 7:30pm @ PCYC Dee Why

R13: v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah; Sunday 3 December, 6:05pm @ PCYC Dee Why

Another weekend, another high scoring draw for UTS Northside Futsal Club. Yes, three draws in their last five games, could we see them take the next step this weekend despite being effectively out of the finals race.

In their favour is the fact both these games are at home where 7 of their 10 total points have been picked up. Kyle Devine has been their best avenue to goal in recent weeks and with plenty of talent on pitch, they could well shock two finals bound teams here.

Boomerangs FS

R12: v Macarthur Quake; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

R13: v Mountain Majik Futsal Club; Sunday 3 December, 5:00pm @ Valentine Sports Park

Could Boomerangs FS be the side to break the winless run of our bottom three sides. They were indeed the last side from the bottom three to win back in mid-October against Dural Warriors at home.

Perhaps the most important game of the Open Men’s weekend involves the Boomerangs, which is important for the club championship. They secured a point against UTS Northside last weekend with a hattrick to Elle Darwich important in the draw.

Macarthur Quake Futsal

R12: v Boomerangs FS; Saturday 2 December, 5:20pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

R13: v Dural Warriors; Sunday 3 December, 5:20pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Last weekend was a tough one for Macarthur Quake Futsal who went down heavily to Mountain Majik by a ten-goal margin. They haven’t won since round two and will want to pick up a result before the season comes to an end.

As such, Saturday’s game against Boomerangs FS is possibly their best hope of one this season. Josh Da Silva has been a consistent goal threat since joining the Quake, so he is our player to watch this weekend.
