Round 25 Preview – League One Women’s
We head into Round 25 the penultimate weekend of the Football NSW League One Women’s competition with everything still up for grabs.
Seven games are on the menu for Sunday afternoon including the Match of the Round between third place Bankstown City Lions FC and league leaders SD Raiders FC.
Let’s get onto the preview.
Match of the Round: Bankstown City Lions FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 18 August, 3pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC face off against SD Raiders FC down at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions were comfortable 4-1 winners against South East Phoenix FC down in Nowra on Saturday night.
Their dynamic duo of Aya Seino and Chelsea Greguric were on the scoresheet in the result and look to fire home again.
Bankstown suffered a 1-0 defeat to SD Raiders FC back in Round 12 and will be keen for some revenge at home.
SD Raiders FC left it late again as they beat Central Coast Mariners FC 2-1 at Ernie Smith Reserve last weekend.
Miriam Zumaya brought the impact again for SD Raiders FC and will be a handful for the Lions defence.
Two wins is what SD Raiders FC need to lift the Premiership and three points on Sunday will go a long way to that goal.

The Town Rangers had a professional 3-0 win against Blacktown City FC in the Match of the Round last weekend.
Winger Rita Boateng had a brace in the result and she has been an important member of the side the last two seasons.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers are one point behind SD Raiders FC in the race for the title and hope their momentum can carry them to the silverware.
South Coast Flame FC scored first before they lost 3-1 to St George FC at Sir Ian McLennan Park on Sunday night.
The Flame look to finish their away campaign with three points and play their part in the League One Women’s title race.

The Mariners fell to a late 2-1 defeat to leaders SD Raiders FC at Ernie Smith Reserve last weekend.
Their loss on the weekend has ruled Central Coast out of finals contention and they look to finish their home schedule with three points.
Matilda Gallagher scored her maiden goal for the yellow-and-navy in the loss after strong form in the u20s.
Nepean FC were beaten 3-1 by Inter Lions FC in their game down at Cook Park last Sunday afternoon.

Alicia Lee scored a brace in the win and the attacker hopes to add to her tally of five goals thus far this season.
Inter Lions FC were beaten 3-0 in the Round 12 game between these two and hope to avoid a season sweep.
Marconi Stallions FC picked up a huge 2-1 win against finals chasing Hills United FC on their home ground.
Marie Herrara has been a valuable member of the Stallions attack this season and she looks to find the back of the net on Sunday.
The Stallions will finish in eighth spot on the League One Women’s ladder and have improved on their 11th place finish in 2023.
South East Phoenix FC vs Sutherland Strikers FC, Sunday 18 August, 3:15pm, South Nowra Football Complex
South East Phoenix FC face off against Sutherland Strikers FC at South Nowra Football Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix were beaten 4-1 by high flying Bankstown City Lions FC down in Nowra last Saturday afternoon.
It is a busy week for South East Phoenix FC who play their midweek game against South Coast Flame FC on Tuesday night.
Claire Scott opened the scoring in the defeat and she hopes to take that form into this contest on the weekend.
Sutherland Strikers FC edged out Camden Tigers FC in a 1-0 win to bounce back from their local derby loss.
Custodian Chaeli De Brincat kept her first clean sheet of the season in the result and will look for another in Nowra.
The combination between Lucy Johnson and Georgie Lewis as part of their front three has been a key to their success this season.

The hosts were beaten by Marconi Stallions FC in their travels down to Marconi Stadium last weekend.
It is now out of Hills United FC hands in their quest for finals football as they need results to go their way across the league.
Coach Alan Tasses will have the side primed for a bounce back performance and collect another three points.
Camden Tigers FC battled hard in their 1-0 loss to Sutherland Strikers FC at Ron Dine Reserve last Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers were unlucky to not take something from the game and hope to put in a similar performance on Sunday.
They will look towards custodian Brianna Clarke to be solid between the sticks to deny the visitors attack.
Blacktown City FC vs St George FC, Sunday 18 August, 4pm, Landen Stadium
Rounding off the weekend is Blacktown City FC hosting St George FC at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Blacktown City FC were beaten 3-0 in the Match of the Round by Bankstown City Lions FC at Landen Stadium.
The hosts put in a better performance on Sunday and hope to take that into this week while playing spoiler.
Cassidy Chidgey was central to Blacktown City FC’s chances last weekend and will look to find the back of the net in this game.
St George FC had a strong 3-1 win against South Coast Flame FC down at Sir Ian McLennan Park last weekend.
The Saints took a huge step towards finals football with that result and another on Sunday will cement it for them.
Kyla Vanderlaan opened the scoring in the win and she has been a handy option up front for St George FC.
