St George FC are headed to back-to-back Grand Finals and the vibes are high at the club headed into Sunday afternoon.

Striker Janan Codmani has had a stellar season with 11 goals and that is possible due to the group at St George FC.

“We’re such a close knit group, we support each other both during games and outside them while keeping things light hearted.” said Codmani.

“That has helped the club get to where they are right now after a tough few years and the vibes are high headed into Sunday.”

That close nature and the vibes created at the Saints has helped them become a side that never says die across the last two seasons even being called the ‘Comeback Queens’.

That was shown in their dramatic semi-final win which went all the way to the shootout after being locked at 0-0.

“We put everything on the line for that game. Everyone gave their all, were cramping but thankful for pickle juice. It was just a game which summed us up as a team.”

St George FC have marched into the finals in fourth spot after reeling off 11 games unbeaten earlier this season.

“That was one of my favourite moments of the season. We really bonded as a group and knew if we didn’t push ourselves that we wouldn’t make the top four.”

Now, St George FC have made the finals and looking to win back-to-back Grand Finals which Codmani admits would be a huge thrill.

“It would be an amazing achievement for us, and the club also cap off the season in the perfect way.”

Codmani also had praise for her coach Mark Greenfield who has been instrumental in her continued success.

“Mark is one of the best coaches I’ve had. He is always positive, believes in us and our abilities and puts in plenty of effort that we don’t see.

“Coming to St George FC has been a game changer for me, I have flourished, and it was the right move at the time for me.”

Looking at her goal scoring, Codmani praised her fellow strikers upfront and her clinical nature in front of goal.

“I have always wanted to be clinical in front of goal and I have been that this season in part to the combinations up front.”

The Saints have built the vibes all around the club and head into the Grand Final looking to take down a strong Mt Druitt side.

“It is going to be a challenge on Sunday, they are a tough side but we are confident in our abilities and belief to get the win.”

St George FC face off against Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC in the League One Women’s Grand Final at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
