Round 2 Preview – League One Women’s

Round 2 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition offers opportunities for teams after blowing off the cobwebs last weekend.
Teams that lost will want to get in the win column while the winners aim to keep their momentum going.
There are six games to enjoy in our first Super Sunday of the season including the Match of the Round between Blacktown City FC and South Coast Flame FC.
Let’s get onto the preview.
Match of the Round: Blacktown City FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 9 March, 5pm, Landen Stadium
Blacktown City FC face off against South Coast Flame FC in the Match of the Round at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts aim to rebound after their 2-0 loss to Inter Lions FC at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.
They will look towards both Kiera Hastings and new signing Jasmine Stretton to help them push forward.
Custodian Amy Harkins will be key for the hosts in this game and might be called upon to make a big contribution.
The Flame are another side looking to make amends after losing 2-1 to Hills United FC on their home turf.
There is plenty of talent across the park for the visitors including Emily Kostovski and Jessie Abbott who have an eye for goal.
Mikayla De Jong was a super sub again for the Flame with her goal and remains a big weapon for Daniel Naumovski late in games.

Sutherland Strikers FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 9 March, 4:30pm, Harrie Denning Reserve
Sutherland Strikers FC welcome Nepean FC to Harrie Denning Reserve for their game on Sunday afternoon.
The Strikers had an extra week to prepare for the League One Women’s season after having the bye last week.
Harrie Denning Reserve was a fortress for the Strikers last season and they hope to maintain that form on Sunday.
Coach Hanif Verjani will have the Strikers ready and raring to go from the opening whistle looking for three points.
Nepean FC battled hard in their 3-0 derby loss against Blacktown Spartans FC away from home last weekend.
All three goals were conceded from set pieces so they will be working on that during the week at training.
Nepean FC might rely on Paris Staal and Keira Geoghegan to give them some impact in this game.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC, Sunday 9 March, 5pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC face off against Blacktown Spartans FC at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions featured in the first Match of the Round losing 5-0 to Grand Finalists St George FC at Barton Park.
Despite the loss, Chelsea Greguric was a tireless worker up front for the Lions looking for some goal scoring opportunities.
Alongside her, Yumeka Yajima was involved heavily and she can provide a spark for the hosts towards three points.
Blacktown Spartans FC had a stellar first game in the division winning 3-0 against local rivals Nepean FC.
The Spartans could’ve have asked for a better start with both Angelique Lynch and Lili Rosandic both finding the back of the net.
They scored their three goals from set pieces so that will be a weapon for the Spartans going forward.
Camden Tigers FC vs Central Coast Mariners FC, Sunday 9 March, 5pm, Ron Dine Reserve
Camden Tigers FC take on Central Coast Mariners FC at Ron Dine Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers went down 2-0 against Marconi Stallions FC in their clash at Marconi Stadium last weekend.
Captain Ashlee Taff will patrol from midfield and help to get the side motoring forward and finding the back of the net.
They will be glad to be back on home turf after last weekend and that it might lead to their first points of the season.
Central Coast Mariners FC had a stirring 3-2 comeback against SD Raiders FC at Cirilli Reserve last Sunday.
Natalia O’Driscoll scored the Mariners first goal of the game and she will be ready to find the back of the net again.
The Mariners will be buoyed by their comeback and know they can dig deep for a result from any position.
Marconi Stallions vs St George FC, Sunday 9 March 9, 5pm, Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions FC host St George FC in their game down at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Stallions had a solid 2-0 win against Camden Tigers FC in their first home game of the campaign.
Back-to-back home games might give the Stallions a good platform to build their season on after the first fortnight.
Asiyah Zreika had a solid first outing in her new colours and will want to repeat the dose against one of the top contenders.
St George FC were 5-0 winners in the Match of the Round against Bankstown City Lions FC last weekend.
It was a star performance from Abbey-Rose Cryer who scored and assisted in the win as a livewire down the wing.
Tayla Cvetkovski pulled the strings in midfield for St George FC and she will be the fulcrum of their attack again.
Hills United FC vs Inter Lions FC, Sunday 9 March, 5:30pm, Valentines Sports Park
Rounding off the weekend is Hills United FC against Inter Lions FC at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.
Hills United FC kicked off the season with a 2-1 win against South Coast Flame FC last Saturday afternoon.
Defender Aisling Davidson has take the armband for the team and she leads from the front with her tough tackling.
Up front, Jess Wootton made a statement with a brace in her first appearance and her combination alongside Isabella Sciberras will be valuable this season.
Inter Lions FC were 2-0 winners against Blacktown City FC in their home opener at Majors Bay Reserve.
Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe scored the second goal in the result and she will be ready to double her delight on Sunday.
The Lions will be buoyed by their win and head across town looking to cause an upset and take three points.
