Round 8 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition features an excellent long weekend of action with games on both Saturday and Monday.

We have six games to crack open for the upcoming weekend including the Match of the Round between Blacktown City FC and Bankstown City FC.

Let’s get onto the preview.

Match of the Round: Blacktown City FC vs Bankstown City Lions FC, Saturday 17 April, 5pm, Landen Stadium

Blacktown City FC hosts Bankstown City Lions FC in their game at Landen Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts want to bounce back after their 1-0 derby loss to Blacktown Spartans FC in the Match of the Round.

Despite the loss, Blacktown City FC take some heart in their work up front but they just need to add goals to it on Saturday.

Rhea D’Mello put in some stellar free-kicks in the loss and she will be ready to take the set pieces again.

Bankstown City Lions FC were the odd team out and had the bye in Round 7 of the League One Women’s competition.

The Lions are another side that will be wanting to bounce back after their loss to SD Raiders FC back in Round 6.

They will look towards the duo of Chelsea Greguric and Jemma Hall to push them forward in this contest.

This game will be streamed LIVE on the FootballNSW YouTube channel with yours truly on the call on Saturday afternoon.

South Coast Flame FC vs Marconi Stallions, Saturday 17 April, 7:15pm, Sir Ian McLennan Park

South Coast Flame FC face off against Marconi Stallions FC at Sir Ian McLennan Park on Saturday night.

The Flame were 6-0 winners against Nepean FC in their game at Cook Park last Sunday afternoon.

They have only lost once on their home turf this season so the Flame will be keen to continue their strong form there.

Abbey Crapp leads the way in goal scoring for Flame with five this season and she hopes to find the back of the net again on Saturday.

Marconi Stallions FC suffered their first loss in a 1-0 game against Hills United FC away from home last weekend.

The Stallions will be without key defender Daniela Brekic after her early red card in the loss last Sunday.

Isabella Sollecito has been fantastic between the sticks for Marconi and she is key to them getting back in the winner’s circle.

Sutherland Strikers FC vs Camden Tigers FC, Monday 19 April, 4:30pm, Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Strikers FC take on Camden Tigers FC down at Harrie Denning Centre on Monday afternoon.

The Strikers were beaten 5-0 against SD Raiders FC in their game at Ernie Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

Keira Mouatas has been their top scorer and she hopes to add to her tally of four goals on Monday afternoon.

Both of the Strikers wins thus far have been at home, so they will head into this game confident of a result.

The Tigers fell to another late defeat, this time against Inter Lions FC in a 2-1 result at Ron Dine Reserve.

It has been an encouraging first quarter of the season for the Tigers who have been a majority of their games thus far.

Coach Alex Antolak wants them to put together a whole 90 minute performance and take three points back up the highway.

Inter Lions FC vs SD Raiders FC, Monday 19 April, 5pm, Majors Bay Reserve

Inter Lions FC welcome SD Raiders FC down to Majors Bay Reserve for their game on Monday afternoon.

The Lions won 2-1 against Camden Tigers FC down at Ron Dine Reserve in their travels to Ron Dine Reserve.

Paola Andrew Giraldo Uribe opened the scoring in the win and she has led the line well for Inter Lions FC this season.

Coach John Di Biase has implemented belief in his squad and they will be ready to take on the challenge of SD Raiders FC on Monday.

SD Raiders FC were 5-0 winners against Sutherland Strikers FC at Ernie Smith Reserve last weekend.

Abigail Boag contributed a pair of goals in the win and she adds another bow to the attacking arrow that SD Raiders FC has.

Alongside her, new signing Amelia Savetta also got a brace and has been a handy option for coach Bojan Radmilo to call upon.

Nepean FC vs St George FC, Monday 19 April, 5pm, Cook Park

Nepean FC face off against St George FC in their game down at Cook Park played on Monday afternoon.

The hosts were beaten 6-0 by a rampant South Coast Flame FC side in their home game last weekend.

Keeper Jasmine Crouch while in a beaten side has made huge saves and she will need more of that on Monday.

Nepean FC have a big week ahead with their Sapphire Cup game on Wednesday night heading down to Bulli FC.

St George FC were held in a 3-3 draw against Central Coast Mariners FC down at Barton Park last Sunday.

Jordan Baker is the Golden Boot leader thus far in 2025 with 9 nine goals through six games in her campaign.

The Saints remain one of two sides alongside Hills United FC that are unbeaten thus far this season and put that on the line Sunday.

Hills United FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC, Monday 19 April, 5:30pm, Valentine Sports Park

Hills United FC round off the weekend against Blacktown Spartans FC at Valentine Sports Park on Monday evening.

The leaders won 1-0 against Marconi Stallions FC in a top two clash last Sunday evening at Valentine Sports Park.

Gemma Woolley underlined her status as a big game goal scorer with her second of the season and hungry for more.

Both Bella Donaldson and Bianca Galayini have been mainstays in this Hills United FC line-up and always provide consistent performances.

Blacktown Spartans FC won the Blacktown derby 1-0 against Blacktown City FC last Sunday afternoon.

Doveinah Vine was their lone goal scorer in the success and she will be ready to repeat the dose in this contest.

Custodian Ella Stewart made some big stops late to preserve their win and she needs another big performance on Sunday.

Central Coast Mariners FC have the bye
