VALE: Michael Briggs
Football NSW was saddened to hear the news of the passing of well-respected and admired administrator Michael Briggs.
Michael became an administrator with Granville District Soccer Football Association’s (GDSFA) Pendle Hill in 1983 where he was the Club President and Life Member before moving to GDSFA as the secretary from 1995 where he accepted a full-time position at the Association in 2007 as the General Manager.
The passionate football fan and GDSFA Life Member also played the world game and started out in the 1950’s which saw him play for the likes of Ryde RSL, Gladesville Ravens, Marsfield, North Sydney Inter and Parkes before he turned his attentions to football administration.
Michael was also very well known in the National Premier Leagues NSW ranks following his time as a Football NSW match commissioner.
Due to his passion and dedication to the sport and his beloved area in GDSFA, his efforts were acknowledged and recognised as Michael won the respect of many who crossed paths with him during his time at the association.
All of Football NSW sends its condolences to the Briggs family and those closest to Michael, and everyone he impacted through football over the years.
