With the promotion race having the possibility to be decided once again in Round 29 of the 2025 Football NSW League Two Men’s season, there could well be jubilation ahead for one side and heartbreak for a few others.

Saturday, 23rd August 2025
Match of the Round: Sydney University SFC vs Prospect United SC, 5pm at Sydney University Football Ground
Previous meeting: Prospect United SC 3-1 Sydney University SFC
Prospect United SC will be out to all-but secure a 2nd-placed finish this season when they travel to take on a Sydney University SFC side which has found some positive results in the second half of the season.
In the reverse fixture, Prospect picked up a 3-1 home win; they will hope to complete the league double, while University will hope to win a third-straight home head-to-head match against Prospect.
13th-placed Sydney University picked up a big 3-1 away win over Gladesville Ryde Magic last week, the side they are chasing on the ladder, and will hope to have their say on the promotion battle when they host Prospect.
University showed their strength in the air as well as on transition last week and will hope to bring that same intensity when Prospect visits.
A win for the students could see them rise to as high as 11th on the ladder, while a loss could see them drop down to 14th.
2nd-placed Prospect United, meanwhile, suffered their biggest loss of the season in a 5-1 defeat at home to Inner West Hawks FC last week but will hope to bounce back as they look to potentially secure a 2nd-placed finish.
With so much at stake for Prospect, they will hope last week was just a blip in their season as they look to take the pressure off themselves heading into the final round of the year next week.
A win for Prospect could see them wrap up 2nd place and qualify for the promotion-relegation playoff tie starting in two weeks, while a loss could see their advantage cut to just one point to South Coast Flame below in 3rd and three points to 4th-placed Granville Rage, who have a match in hand.
With the possibility of the promotion race to be decided following this match, Prospect will hope to respond from last week’s tough defeat, while University will want to have their say on the promotion race.

Granville Rage vs Fraser Park FC, 8pm at Fraser Park
Previous meeting: Fraser Park FC 2-4 Granville Rage
An all-or-nothing match for Granville Rage sees their hopes of a 2nd-placed finish determinate on the outcome of this match when they battle with Fraser Park FC.
In the reverse fixture, Granville held off a Fraser Park comeback twice to come away with a 4-2 away win; they will hope to complete the league double for a second-straight season, while Fraser Park will want to all-but end the Rage’s hopes of promotion with a win, themselves.
4th-placed Granville Rage went eleven matches unbeaten following their 2-1 away win over Bankstown United FC last week and will hope to extend that streak with a win as their promotion hopes hang in the balance.
Having a shorter back-up time for this match, the Rage will hope to use their adrenaline to guide them as they look to stay in the promotion fight.
A win for the Rage could see them rise into 3rd and close the gap to 2nd-placed Prospect United SC to three points with a match in hand, while a loss would see them all-but ruled out of the promotion race, pending other results.
8th-placed Fraser Park FC, meanwhile, grabbed their equal-biggest win of the season last week following their 5-2 home win over Nepean FC and will want to have their say on the promotion race.
With Fraser Park showing they can not only stay in tough matches but go on to record strong victories as they did last week, they will hope to bring that same desire when they face Granville.
A win for Fraser Park could see them rise into the top half of the ladder into 7th, while a loss could see them drop to as low as 10th.
With the possibility for a promotion candidate to either stay in the race or be knocked out, Granville will hope to fight hard for the win, while Fraser Park would love to spoil the party.

Parramatta FC vs Dunbar Rovers FC, 5pm at Fraser Park
Previous meeting: Dunbar Rovers FC 1-1 Parramatta FC
A grudge match in the mid-table sees Parramatta FC looking to hold onto their spot in the top half when Dunbar Rovers FC, also chasing a top-half finish, visits.
In the reverse fixture, the two sides could not be separated following a 1-1 draw in which both teams finish with ten men; both teams will hope to bring that same energy to this contest.
7th-placed Parramatta FC suffered a 2-0 away loss to Camden Tigers FC last week but will hope to return to winning ways against Dunbar.
Parramatta will be without recent signing Christian Claps following his red card last week but will hope to fill his position and battle hard as they look to hold onto their place in the top half of the ladder.
A win for the Eagles could see them rise into 6th on the ladder, while a loss could see them drop down to 8th.
9th-placed Dunbar Rovers, meanwhile, went seven matches without a win following their 2-2 home draw to South Coast Flame FC last week but will be optimistic following their positive performance in that match.
Dunbar will hope to hold possession well and utilise their passing game as they look to break down Parramatta and cause problems for the Eagles.
A win for Dunbar could see them rise into 8th on the ladder, while a loss could see them drop down to 10th.
With Parramatta and Dunbar both looking for positive ends to the season coming up, both teams will hope to battle hard for the three points.
South Coast Flame FC vs Gladesville Ryde Magic, 5pm at Sir Ian McLennan Oval
Previous meeting: Gladesville Ryde Magic 7-3 South Coast Flame FC
A rematch between the two sides who played out the highest-scoring match of the season last time out sees South Coast Flame FC looking to stay in the fight for promotion when they host Gladesville Ryde Magic.
In the reverse fixture, ten goals were shared between the two teams as the Magic recorded a 7-3 home win in Round 14’s Match of the Round; they will hope to complete the league double, while the Flame will hope to get revenge at home.
3rd-placed South Coast Flame FC saw their promotion hopes grab a big boost following their mid-week 2-1 away win over Camden Tigers FC, with a goal each from Thomas Dunn and Jyden Harb, the latter grabbing his 27th goal of the season, helping them hold out despite a late goal from Camden’s Bailey Simpson.
With the Flame’s promotion hopes hanging on this match, expect them to come out strongly as they chase the opening goal.
A win for the Flame could see them stay in the fight and close the gap to Prospect ahead of them to just one point, while a loss would see their promotion hopes end.
12th-placed Gladesville Ryde Magic, meanwhile, lost a fourth-straight match following their 3-1 home loss to Sydney University SFC last week but will hope to bounce back away from home.
Having scored in each of their past eight matches, the Magic will hope to extend that streak against a side they scored seven goals against in the reverse fixture.
A win for the Magic could see them rise into 11th on the ladder, while a loss could see them drop to as low as 14th.
With the Flame’s promotion hopes hanging on the result of this match, as well as results elsewhere, they will hope to stay in the fight for promotion up until the final matchday of the season.
Camden Tigers FC vs Central Coast United FC, 7pm at Ron Dine Memorial Reserve
Previous meeting: Central Coast United FC 0-0 Camden Tigers FC
A battle between the bottom-two sides sees Camden Tigers FC looking to take the fight to the final matchday when they host Central Coast United FC, who are playing their final match of the season.
In the reverse fixture, the two sides played out a goal-less draw; with the record split at a win each and a draw from their past three matches, this contest could continue to provide unpredictability.
Last-placed Camden Tigers FC suffered a tight 2-1 home loss to South Coast Flame FC in a mid-week catch-up match but will hope to pick up what could be a big three points against the side just ahead of them on the ladder in Central Coast United.
Bailey Simpson became the first Tigers player to score double digit goals this season after he netted his 10th goal of the season in that match against the Flame and the Tigers will hope to bring an attacking intent to this match against the Pirates to take them down.
A win for the Tigers would see them close the gap to just one point and put their fate of avoiding a last-placed finish in their own hands in Round 30, while a loss would see them finish bottom of the league in 2025.
14th-placed Central Coast United scored two late goals, including a 90+4’ equaliser, to earn a 3-3 away draw to Hawkesbury City FC last week and will hope to bring that same intensity when they travel to face the Tigers.
Playing in their final match of the season, the Pirates will hope to end the season on a high note and that should be more than enough motivation for the players to give their all.
A win for the Pirates would see them avoid a last-placed finish this season and could see them rise to as high as 12th, while a loss would see their gap to the Tigers below them drop to just one point.
With a grudge match in the battle to avoid a last-placed finish brewing, both sides will hope to pick up the three points in a match which could decide who ends 2025 on the bottom of the ladder.
Inner West Hawks FC vs Bankstown United FC, 7pm at Arlington Oval
Previous meeting: Bankstown United FC 2-2 Inner West Hawks FC
A battle between two teams in contrasting form sees Inner West Hawks FC looking to continue their positive end to the season when they host a Bankstown United FC side hoping to get back on the winner’s list.
In the reverse fixture, both sides took the lead but settled for a 2-2 draw; the Hawks will hope to win their first head-to-head match against Bankstown since Round 17, 2023, while Bankstown will hope to get back to their dominant head-to-head form over the Hawks.
10th-placed Inner West Hawks continued their late-season form with a big 5-1 away win over the promotion-chasing Prospect United SC in last week’s Match of the Round and will hope to go a sixth-straight match unbeaten.
With positive results in recent weeks against both Prospect and the Premiers, Hurstville Zagreb FC, the Hawks will be confident of bringing that same fight and energy to the team in 3rd in the Flame.
A win for the Hawks could see them rise to as high as 8th on the ladder, while a loss would keep them in 10th.
5th-placed Bankstown United FC, meanwhile, saw their hopes of promotion this season end following their 2-1 home loss to Granville Rage last week but will still hope to end the season on a positive note in the coming weeks.
With the pressure of fighting for 2nd out of the equation, Bankstown will hope to play with freedom in the coming weeks as they look to grab more wins to end the season.
A win for Bankstown could see them rise to 4th on the ladder, while a loss would see them stay in 5th.
With the Hawks flying high and Bankstown playing without pressure to end the season, both teams will hope to grab the three points from this match, with plenty of energy expected.
Nepean FC vs Hawkesbury City FC, 7pm at Cook Park
Previous meeting: Hawkesbury City FC 1-1 Nepean FC
The grudge match between Nepean FC and Hawkesbury City FC will reignite once more when the two teams do battle to end off Round 29.
In the reverse fixture, Hawkesbury came from behind to grab a 1-1 home draw to Nepean; with Nepean having won the three head-to-head matches prior to that, they will hope to extend their head-to-head unbeaten streak, while Hawkesbury will chase their first win over Nepean since the 2022 FNSW League Three Men’s regular season.
11th-placed Nepean FC went six matches without a win and lost back-to-back matches by a 5-2 scoreline following their defeat away to Fraser Park FC last week but will hope to fire up in this big match.
With the history between these two clubs and the streak Nepean are on in the head-to-head against Hawkesbury, they will use that as motivation to come away with a victory, while on the squad side only one Nepean player remains from their last defeat to the Hawks in 2022 – Jack Hoban.
A win for Nepean would see them stay in 11th, while a loss could see them drop to as low as 13th.
6th-placed Hawkesbury City FC, meanwhile, also went six matches without a win and drew back-to-back matches 3-3 following their home draw to Central Coast United FC but will hope to fire up as they chase their first win over Nepean in over three years.
With five of the Hawkesbury squad remaining from that 2022 match to the current time, they will hope to help their teammates in the bid to claim bragging rights in this match.
A win for the Hawks would see them stay in 6th on the ladder, while a loss could see them drop to 7th.
A grudge match always brings with it plenty of energy and both sides will hope to utilise that as they look to grab the three points.
Premiers Hurstville Zagreb FC have a bye in Round 29.
