Hills United FC Under 23s coach and assistant Paul Tasses is hoping to crunch the numbers and help deliver a historic treble for the club.

Since hanging up his boots in 2022, Tasses has become a valuable member of the Hills United FC coaching staff alongside father, Alan.

Tasses takes charge of the u23s side who have made the Grand Final alongside their First Grade counterparts.

His job focuses on the technical aspects of the game and has helped Hills United FC take that extra step in 2025.

“I think coming from the NPL system, I have brought the tools to help the girls including visual cues which can be easier to digest,” said Tasses.

“We give them more learning techniques either in video or audio form which has helped the girls improve and have a more professional edge.”

Alongside that duty, Tasses also plays a ‘devils advocate’ role to help his father and the side reach their goals.

“My job is playing devil’s advocate and push his buttons at times. 99% of the time we are on the same page but we are good at separating our relationship.

“We treat each other like equals and [Alan] has a lot of faith in me to do my job which allows him to take a back seat. So, we can discuss things in a calm fashion.”

Tasses hopes his father can also get some recognition for his achievements later in the season and on Sunday night.

Helping to put Hills United FC in that position is the strength of both their squads which has seen both make the Grand Finals.

“Our ability to show strength across the grades this season has been brilliant including bringing through plenty of 23s players.”

“It gives them invaluable minutes in First Grade and shows why we’ve been so strong while raising the standards every year.

“We have brought together 40+ players and making sure they gel is important because they help each other out throughout the season.”

Lifting that trophy on Sunday would be huge for both Tasses and the Hills United FC club to round off a fantastic season.

“It would be such a massive accomplishment for us because it means we came through big at every stage of the season showing plenty of mental strength and focus.

“We can’t be too comfortable against a good SD Raiders FC side who we haven’t beaten all season and do our jobs.”

The FNSW League One Women’s Grand Final will be streamed LIVE on the FNSW YouTube channel Sunday night, 6:15pm with the commentary team of Eric Subijano and David Feeney.

The u23s Grand Final between Hills United FC and St George FC will be streamed LIVE at 3:30pm with ‘The Professor’ Mel Muscat commentating.
